    Another AR pistol Q..

Read a ton of threads on AR pistols and moving to CA with them. I have a slightly better knowledge of the process. While living in Vegas I purchased a Ruger 5.56 lower from a big box, DROSd it and made my way home to slap a PSA 8.5 upper on it. Knowing I was moving to CA, I threw a maglock on it in case those not so sneaky interdiction officers that hang out on the 15 fwy stopped me.

With all that said, is this thing now compliant and legal to either sell PPT or take out to the desert and hunt pumpkins?

If legal to PPT, what's a good price? I currently have a for sale post offering 99% of the pistol (minus the lower due to my confusion) for $500. If I can sell it as a whole pistol with lower included, what are they actually selling for? I see these for sale around $3k but with no interest due to all of the "bump, still for sale". I do know that if Biden wins they'll probably be sold in minutes to panic buyers.

According to the interweb, AR pistols are about to all be SBRs and require Federal Tax Stamp per the ATF. Not sure how CA is going to deal with this. Also there's Miller v Becerra being decided in Jan after the election/inauguration, Jan 21 or something.

Hopefully your pistol lower is DROSed as a semi-auto pistol. If I were to sell mine I'd just PPT the lower and sell the other stuff separately so the gun store doesn't have anything to say. Put a high price and let people talk you down. See what happens.

I emailed the big box to ask them if they're able to provide info on how they DROS lowers. Not even sure why the whole DROS thing is an issue since DROS isn't an accessible registry.

IF it happens, kali won't allow them to be registered as sbr's. They would be illegal sbr's under federal law.

DROS is a kali thing. Normal states don't have such a thing, they won't know what you're talking about.

You bought the lower while living in Vegas? So was there any state paperwork, or only a 4473?

If worse comes to worse with the ATF. You can convert a pistol into a rifle. Make sure the rifle is Ca compliant.

I thought the ATF 4473 was DROS?

No paperwork other than a receipt and 4473 completed. No background.

4473 is a Fed form for most firearms. Required in all 50 states for dealer purchased firearms. DROS is strictly a Ca thing.

If you purchased it as a rifle, I believe when you move here, it will have to be as a rifle. If it was 4473'd as a pistol, then just put a compliant maglock on it, and register it when get here.

No, it is not. You did not DROS anything in NV. That only happens in CA.

And without knowing EXACTLY what mag lock you have, no one can opine on the legality of your configuration.

If you bought it as complete lower, with stock, while in vegas, the 4473 should still say other. There is no california dros so dealers here might not want to transfer as pistol. But you might be able to register this pistol here first then sell.

You can't register lowers as semi-pistols anymore. Not sure if you can if you owned it and want to get it into CA as it was in NV.
