In their defense they charge $25.00 for a transfer. The policy is you need to clear it with them BEFORE you ship in the gun. I see they still get in many non compliant guns. They didn’t change their rate, they’re just not accepting shipments and if you ship in a gun you will pay for the non compliance.

I’ve shipped a few guns in to them since OC armory closed. It was an utter circle jerk with the newbies buying off roster stuff and it arriving. This is a casualty of the draconian gun and ammo laws, and other FFLs are close to the tipping point too.

Mmmm. I thought it is a condition of retaining the FFL that they need to do transfers by the agreement with federal and state agencies.

Today I was going to meet a friend at OnTarget for the first PPT I've done in quite a while then I saw this thread Since OC Armory, which was always my go to gun store, is no longer around we went to OC Gun based on recommendations in this thread. Great service, nice people! Couldn't have been better. Thanks OCGun!

I was guy with the Tudor Heritage Chrono

          edit to add more info:

After seeing this thread, we called OnTarget re doing our PPT. They said PPT's are only taken 10:30-11:30 and 4:30-5:30 M-F on a first come first served basis. That's why we decided to go to OCGuns.

While I certainly understand OT's frustration, their communication could be less snarky, so there's that......

Sounds reasonable to me. Better to tell customers "sorry, can't do that for a month or two", then tell them they can and then not be able to deliver.

Sort of like how everyone gets pissed at companies that accept payment immediately without inventory in stock...

As others have said the owner call be emotional but that cuts both ways. One day I was shooting there when an employee brought me 100 rounds of Ammo they wanted me to “test”. At one lax ammo event I went to renew my membership for on target. He refused to charge me and comped It for free. That’s $250.00!!

I just think he’s at his wits end. The industry is a mess. He can’t sell Ammo and guns because he can’t get ammos or guns. The idiots who voted for newsom are in line choking off the dros process because they don’t have enough sense to think they might need a drivers license to buy a gun.

He has a ton of overhead And is probably bleeding heavily because no one has Ammo to even practice.

I’ll admit I let my membership lapse over the draconian brass policy - but I also like West End and prefer to shoot outdoors even if it means an hour drive beyond the ten minute drive to on target.

So let’s cut this company some slack. He’s not attacking everyone, just the morons. He’s seen enough of them.

As another op has said, the more I use their non-range services, the less I like them.

I will do less and less business with them, when ever I can.

The email was the most unprofessional and rude thing I've ever received from a business. Every other gun shop is going through the same issues and they haven't sent any b1tchy, whiny, and threatening emails like On Target. There's a reason I drive past them and do my business at Riflegear. I'll also keep OC guns in mind due to the positive feedback I'm seeing here.

I've witnessed On Target treat people like crap before, this email was the last straw for me. I won't be going back there.

Didn't they also do something similar when the ammo background check law kicked in? Along the lines of charging an exorbitant amount on ammo transferred into their store and mandatory storage charges after X number of days? Something that turned off many of their customers at the time.

Best thing that happened to me in Fresno was one of the gun shops I did business with refused private party transfers I found a smaller friendlier shop and have brought 8-9 guns from him.

YEP. While everyone else was actually HELPING the gun community, of OT decided they'd charge $25.00 for the first 500 rds and then a percentage of the total order after that AND you had to be there within HOURS of the order arriving or they'd charge storage fees. LOL Way to HELP the shooting community. (Did ANYONE ever actually use them for ammo tranfers?)

OC Guns is great, transfer and DROS is 75$.
For On Target, they are good if you wait in line and know what you want and have all the necessary documents BUT they do have a attitude problem.
The guy that walks around OWB can be rude to some people but like others support your local FFL that deserves your business and that is why I use OC Guns.
