Do we have a guide for private sales that involve shipping a firearm?

Yes this is doable, if the FFL allows walk in dealer transfers from non-licensees.
Meeting at a FFL is not always a PPT. It can also be a dealer transfer - this would be expected if the seller was not a CA resident.Comment

You desperately need to get your eyes checked and obviously failed in math. Now sit down.
OP out of state was unclear to me.Last edited by guest1; 10-27-2020, 3:26 PM.sigpicComment

The OP is in Reno and is asking about selling his gun to a CA buyer. Hence, it will not be a PPT even if he delivers the gun in person to the FFL because the seller and buyer are not both CA residents.
Sometimes it helps to read the very first post so you have all the information.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.
A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.
Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

So, back to the issue.
The seller lives in NV and is a NV resident. He’s edited the post to eliminate the PPT discussion. But, to close that issue, CA PPT won’t work, as DES (DROS Entry System (DES) Firearms Dealership User Guide, Page 38) requires:That leaves him with out-of-state sale into state.ENTERING PURCHASER AND SELLER INFORMATION
All DROS transaction types require the entry of purchaser information. Seller information is only required on the following transaction types:
Private Party Handgun Transfer
Handgun Loan
Private Party Long Gun Transfer
Long Gun Loan
Purchaser and seller information will be captured by swiping the California Driver’s License or Identification card through a magnetic card swipe reader.
1. In person: A sale with someone willing to make the drive to a CA FFL close to NV (or in LA...your round trip..not his...he needs to do this twice!) who will conduct the transfer. Make sure the FFL will do the transfer (not ppt) and the buyer pays all fees. Cash for the purchase price to you at point of sale. Walk away and be done.
2. A person willing to have you ship the gun to his/her FFL. Payment gets tricky, but Shipmygun provides relief for transport costs. You need to make a relationship with the FFL, as well as the buyer.
3. Bring the gun over the border and establish consignment with a CA FFL. They handle the sale, transfer, etc., and send you the money. Takes 30 + days to execute.
What is this fabulous CA-approved firearm.?Last edited by Dvrjon; 10-27-2020, 7:06 PM.Comment
