Besides training building trade craft, unions are toxic and a haven for lazy workers.

Remember, New Yorkers have voted for people like Comrade DeBozo and Cuomo. Those pols made it impossible for Remington to make a profit in NY.
The company folders and was cut up into little pieces and sold off the the highers bidder.

          I somewhat agree.
Gov't workers unions are the worst and screw the public the most.
As a long time union electrician, I can tell you we had no problem firing people. Well, usually we waited till the next pay day or the first slow down, and gave them a layoff. Less grief all around.
But I did have a case where I hired a guy in the morning and gave him his check at the end of the day.
Things are always getting more liberal, and the big jobs always have some political bodies that just have to be endured.
          I hate lazy people.

It truly amazes me that with all the gun and ammo sales over the last 10 yrs, that anyone could go broke.
Why didn't they relocate to get rid of some of their problems?

They are two separate companies now. The ones being layed off at the moment work for roundhill group and they made remington arms (870, 700, etc.). The ones making ammo work for vista outdoors now and appear to be working still. Prior to the buy out, they both were owned by remington (freedom group), but worked in two separate facilities under two separate contracts. I would venture to guess it wasn't easy as just taking a transfer from arms to ammunition for a line worker.

I didn't buy many Remington firearms but have shot a lot of their ammo. Hate to see them go.

Not even unions can keep lazy workers employed. Once identified, lazy union workers spend most of their time on the waiting list.

Unions do some training. Most valuable skills are built in the field.
