Hope and Change. That seems to be able to destroy just about anything.

First infect Skynet core with Windows Vista OS and Norton Security package, then the war is over.

"Von Neumann's War" by John Ringo had scramjet bullets in 308 that were pretty awesome in range and penetration. No modifications to the firearm needed, differences only apparent after ?? meters from the bore (50, 100?). So choose your favorite 308 rifle! 5.56 versions were never mentioned, but *larger* calibers should be convertible too (12ga sabot scramjet!). The main issue was that it was extremely difficult to make the rounds, lots of complicated shapes inside the bullet.

Electromagnetic slug throwers seem like a good alternative, assuming plentiful electric power. As already stated grenade launchers (40mm, or maybe that is why they want to use that 25mm repeating grenade launcher) are a good existing tech idea. Maybe a Taser shell concept that zaps them to disrupt its electronics?

Don't forget, your not just fighting the infantry (t600 etc) bots, but also the Hunter Killers and Tanks. The machines have all the resources of the world, and essentially unlimited processing power and time to think out the answers to physics problems (to explain time travel, energy weapons and compact power sources.)

Or as the wife says "its JUST a movie!"

Don't blame him, blame the internet. I think the leaks of the ending. etc is what made them make so many changes that killed the movie. They should have did a wolverine and just said F__K it and release the movie how it was, good or bad.

Something more than the weak .223 round. It's ok on humans, not tereminators.

I agree with the .50 Caliber Rifle, I would also feel good with a Saiga 12 and a 30 round mag loaded with 00 or slugs..

Peace demands solutions, but we never reach living solutions; we only work toward them. A fixed solution is, by definition, a dead solution. The trouble with peace is that it tends to punish mistakes instead of rewarding brilliance.

I would think a 40gr solid steel 5.56 round with a thin copper coat to protect the barrel would do nicely, obviously you would want to target the cpu or power unit area. The rounds could be cast and loaded by fighters with little access to advanced materiel or technology and would work in weapons that already are common. I doubt we would have serious manufacturing power under such a scenario.

EMP would almost certainly fail, most military electronic gear is EMP hardened, it would seem unlikely that the terminators would not have the same features.

Realistically though, the terminators would be faster, smarter, more accurate, and have better stamina than any human. They could also function at a higher capacity after sustaining heavy damage, say a lost limb, than any human. Most humans are far from "combat ready". Even most members of this board probably have 25%+ body fat and can't run a single mile. We would lose, no nukes required. I for example am in decent shape, have enough firepower, and I can shoot, but without my eyeglasses I would be pretty screwed. Bottom line is if we fight we lose. Better to work out a deal, otherwise just try to go down with some honor.

BTW, this is far from an unrealistic scenario, unlike "zombies". The only thing really limiting massive computer interconnection now is firewall technology, which could computing will soon render obsolete. You won't have a personal computer or server in the future, just a virtual machine that is part of maybe 4 or 5 super clouds that you will access from a home, work or mobile terminal. The already have computers that are more powerful than the human brain in raw power, add in quantum computing and link a few million of them together and sentience is inevitable.

In addition the majority funding for combat aircraft is now going to unmanned, within 20 years all combat and combat support aircraft with be unmanned. Ground vehicles, and eventually infantry will follow close behind. It won't be very long after that, or even before the process is completed, that programmers develop a reliable system that is faster and makes fewer errors than a human (witness the RIM-7 Sea Sparrow, among others).

Put these two developments together and you just better hope that the machines put up with us.

i don't think most will just give up if it really did come down to Us vs Machines. you just can't predict human nature.

if anything, there would be a ruling class that would use machines to suppress the populous more than AI taking over completely.
