I remember watching someone use a carefully shaped piece of plywood with a thumb hole in one end grip a 1911, and bring it up so that the opposite end was on his shoulder; the wood was not attached to the pistol, only wedged between his palm and the pistol’s grip. If he let go, both would fall to the ground separately. Some might call that a stock, others a brace. But it didn’t change the pistol, as it was not connected.

After reading through all the responses, looks to me that some folks here are actually OK with the feds going after people who use braces as a work around.
Hope that’s not the case.Comment

its hard to be against the "rule of law" if you wish to change the law do it legally dont break it and then ask for forgiveness like the radicals on the left
i personally think most regulations should be ruled void due to vagueness but we do not have that ruling
the sbr laws original intent was to keep people from making pistols out of rifles which were going to be banned but that fell through then it became a method of preventing people from making a "whippet" from a rifle
and i can see that being able to stand but one should be able to build up one from the ground up as a non rifle non pistol shoulderable or not but various opinions being converted into quazi-regualtion its become a convoluted messComment

I don't agree with it but anybody who's surprised is a moron."Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. Moderation in pursuit of justice is no virtue." ----Sen. Barry Goldwater

No.
No.
The argument is that it wasn't legal in the first place, not that it became illegal because of the way it was fired. That's what "reclassified" means...
Inquiring minds have to accept the answers that explain (not justify, just explain) the legal process behind the changes. This is how all regulations work (as opposed to the code itself) and we can see it with the CA DOJ trying to prevent BB-s from being removed from AW-s...sigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment

You ARE on a Kali website. Full of jealous people that resent the fact they can't have AR pistols. There's a lot of schadenfreude going on.Comment

There's no breaking of the law going on. What's going on is the "authority" is saying the law is THIS way in 2015-ish and then in 2020 saying it's THAT way when NEITHER WAY is written into the law. If the law needs clarifying, let the legislators clarify it, not some unelected bureaucrats. Or at least the courts, who have some understanding of how law works. At least California got that right - when it became obvious the language in their "assault weapon" bans was inadequate, they passed new law.its hard to be against the "rule of law" if you wish to change the law do it legally dont break it and then ask for forgiveness like the radicals on the left

I don't agree with what they did, but I have a job far worth more than a tax stamp, so I did it. The good news is that Q, LLC will refund your $200 once you are approved.

Heck, to save stamps and fingerprint cards, I did two more LOL.
(Yes, the agent confirmed on the telephone that as long as I submit them in one envelope, only two FP cards are needed for each responsible person, regardless of the number of applications)

Well said, sir.Buffer tube is part of the action so it cannot be removed, which is why AR pistols are generally safe from being designated an SBR even if buffer tube can be shouldered.
Remove the brace and use the buffer tube in any way you like, and you're completely in the clear. Silly, but that's how it works - buffer tube is a necessity, the brace is not.It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

“The White House and leadership at the Department of Justice are reviewing this matter to ensure there is no interference with the ability of law-abiding citizens—including lawful firearms manufacturers—to exercise their constitutionally guaranteed liberties.”
The White House is investigating the ATF's decision to increase regulation on Q, LLC's (Q) Honey Badger Pistol.
