I understand that, however, if you've got a shop set-up to manufacture millions of rounds a day and the govt. contract ends, you have to find another customer -or close it all down, fire the employees and scrap the tooling.

Even once the ammo starts becoming available, everyone is going to hoard it up. I know I will when I can. So the shortage for the average shooter will be even longer.

Olin hasn't done that in the past. They aren't going to scrap the tooling because it belongs to Lake City, lol.

Lots of gun shops are having a difficult time finding anything they can get in to sell, so you have to place orders with lots of different manufacturers and distributors just to increase you chances of getting somthing. If demands tanks, then they can always cancel unfulfilled orders so when Trump gets re-elected, I expect things to get back to normal pretty quick unless the left tries to start some kind of civil war, then what you have right now is what you have.

Because we aren't shooting up Iraqistan like before. Ammo use by our military has gone way down in the last few years.

The ‘learn to reload’ folks haven’t noticed that bulk primers are nowhere to be found.

Just my $0.02 but “waiting around” for something to be handed to them is the problem.

SPP and LPP are out there to be purchased in the usual 1k-5k packs for $0.03 a primer. Just need to be really fast to buy them they show up in stock

(My orders from yesterday all got shipping notices, so hopefully I won’t be eating my words with some unforeseen cancellations)

At the range this past weekend, few were picking up their brass.

Right. I’m only looking for and buying qualities that are 5% of that “commercial” order

But my point was the people being suggested to “learn to reload” are not ammo manufacturers.

They are private individuals who could transition from complaining about lack of ammo in boxes on shelves they can buy, to sourcing components for their use

went to turners last week and they had tons of federal 556. it was in 400 round cans priced at $399.00. so after tax its over a buck a round.
