Don't worry about me, I'll be starting on my own as soon as I head offline. I don't know if he is coming or going. We had him come out through patriots.com to give us a bid on some work before we move. We're having a bunch of them come over next weekend to help with packing and yard work, so I'll grill them about it then.

Most likely FUD being spread by lower enlisted types looking to impress a few civilians.

I LOVE the Mk 12. We had a (very quiet) blast with them.

Cost aside, and would save cost anyway, they would be smart to re-issue some of the M14s again. Not everyone needs an M1 Carbine - oops, sorry, I meant to type M4.

Since we havent had access to M21/M14's here...we have a few M16A4's with personally bought collapsing butt stocks as Designated Marksmen rifles.

                Works great

                      Freaking Lcpl Underground working overtime.

Ah the mk12, things gotten retarded in fallujah last year. They no longer allowed the silencers to be taken outside the wire otherwise u risked a page 11 or worse. No idea why.

Realistically, I see them trading M4 to units in immediate need of them that are deploying. The Marines are still transitioning all their m16a2s to A4s, and there are really a shortage of M4's in every unit i've seen. I highly doubt they would sell rifles back to the manufacturer, a contract is a contract.
The good news for us folks stuck with mr. kentucky long rifle m16, is that SUPPOSEDLY, and I say this because I read it in a Marine Times article but couldn't find any details online, supposedly they are looking at replacing the solid buttstock with a collapsible one, due to complaints of our **** getting stuck when we enter exit humvee and the fact its Damn near impossible to shoulder the rifle in a squared off stance with our million pound flak on.
This is one of those things i REALLLLY hope goes through up the chain of command. I don't mind the extra 4 inch barrel, but trying to shoot properly with a long *** buttstock sucks for short armed guys like me. I'm forced to shove the RCO all the way back to get a somewhat decent sight picture. Horrible horrible times.

Not to mention full buttstock sucks with body armor on, especially when squaring off to your target.

Carbines are turned in for RESET (rebuild to 10/20 standards). Troops will be issued---IF REQUIRED--an A2, or whatever the unit uses CONUS.

M4 will be issued to deploying unit.

Nothing new. Been doing this since March 2003.

Also, the MWO to reconfigure A2's to A4 status was issued in early 2005. When completed, ALL rifles and carbines will have rail systems and optional sights.

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero
