    How things at ranges are?

I haven't been at a range since pandemic started. Then there's shortage of ammo and guns.

Are ranges still packed these days? Anything to be aware of if I go there?

Been to a few this past 2 months. Pretty busy. I'd say nearly "normal". Just need to wear mask inside the main common areas.

Weekends will always be busy...hour+ waits. Best bet is to go early in the weekday (Mon-Wed).

I am trying to figure this out...

There is an ammo shortage - why are the ranges still packed?

In my perception, way more packed than usual...

I've wondered this too. I haven't been shooting in a while because of the cost it'd be to replenish my stock. But the prices don't seem to be dissuading other people at all because the ranges at my various Lgs's are always full

Sometimes a gun is just a gun.

We reload our own center fire ammo and I have thousands in stock of all calibers (10s of thousands of .22/.22 Mag). We have not gone often enough so we are trying to get out on a regular basis now.

We belong to a private outdoor club and when we went this morning it was very busy. A lot more busy than before this "situation". We'll go back during the week some time.

                Busy just about every day.

Yes, ammo for sale is limited.

Mostly new shooters are low on ammo....veteran shooters have plenty.

There are the violent protests + CoVid boredom as reasons for crowds.

The outdoor range I visit in the SF Bay area has a 1-3 hour wait on weekends, significantly busier than pre pandemic.

Our's have been closed for a month because of high fire danger. But everyone always just show up, has a good time, and leave. None of the mask BS, none of this 6' crap.

I’m glad I got into 6.5 CM bolt action recently. Friday I spent 3 hours at the range and only shot 40 rounds.

There are a lots of new shooters, and veteran shooters also want to practice, both practicing to be prepared.
