For home defense even without sights you could easily hit a human size target at any distance within a normal or even a large sized house.

So zero it in at 25 yards and you’ll be totally fine.

I’m sure some will disagree, but imo if you live in the city or suburbs and you’re getting into a fire fight at distances beyond 25 yards, you’ve got bigger problems.

edit: nevermind, I was reading the table wrong...

1.2" below bullseye at 25 yards should put you around a 50 yard zero, which will put you in 3 inches from 0-200 yards.

Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty.

It won't matter for HD purposes, so long as you know what your zero is and how much to hold over for the respective distance. Know your hold.

If you shoot someone at thirtyfive yards you won't have to worry about the range outings. You'll be busy for at least a few years.

50 yard zero good to 200.
For HD, depending on what sights (RDS or BUIS or 1x scope), you will have to take into account mechanical separation which is the distance between your barrel and optic. Meaning your POI will be very different at 10 yards when zero'd to 50. You'll have to aim around the scalpline to hit between the eyes at ten yards. I've trained/practiced enough that it's second nature to me to aim at a specific point for a specific AR with a specific RDS (Aimpoint) with a specific 1/3 lower cowitness mount at HD distances from a low ready stance.
