    Much appreciated!

    1. Treat all guns as if loaded (even when you know they aren't).
    2. Never point the muzzle at anything you aren't willing to destroy.
    3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target.
    4. Know your target and what is beyond it (avoid all collateral damage).

Google - jerking the trigger target. It’s a ten yard target designed to get you a 50 yard zero and it gets shockingly close.

You may remember Frank Proctor’s method for achieving a 50/200 yard zero at 10 yards with your AR-15 that was mentioned here a few months ago. I have been putting it to good use. It is a very…

More info regarding your MPBR data and the advantages it provides the 556 AR shooter.

What is the best AR15 zero? It's one where you have to estimate distance as little as possible to hit your target. Point. Click. Hit. Read up inside.

"So if I am shooting a 20 inch AR15 with XM193 and a maximum bullet rise of 3 inches over my line of sight, then I just extended my MPBR to 300 yards where at that point the bullet would dip 3 inches below the line of sight. That has effectively changed our “resolution” to 6 inches where the bullet would stay in the defined target zone. A 6-inch resolution easily fits in the space occupied by a human head out to 300 yards! That means a dead hold to the middle of the face will *potentially* score head-shots out to darn near 300 yards!"

This used to be called a "hunter's zero" back the day, but it's nice to know it is still being used for all practical purposes.
This MPBR can be applied to any rifle used in any caliber. Height over bore and ammo choices vary the outcome, but the results render easier "no brainer" hits for us regular guys.

I read somewhere....25 yds , 1.2" low should put you on at 50 yds .... and keeps you POI just above your LOS out to 200 yds ... don't remember where I read that ...works for me.

To get a 50 yard zero, you want to be hitting the 25 yard target about 1.25 inches below your aiming point. So if you aim at a bullseye at 25 yards, the point of impact should be about an inch, to an inch and a half below the bullseye.

This will give you zero at 50 yards and about 200 yards. It should be a about 1.5-2" high at one hundred. IIRC

However, all of this depends on the ammo you are using. 55 grain will be different than 62gr or 77gr. Velocity matters, you will get different results if you use a 10.5" barrel or a 16" barrel. Powder matters; weak loads will be different that say military loads. Different brands sometimes use different powders. Etc.

I usually zero at fifty, check at 100, and 200 if possible. For me its never exact; a fifty yard zero never equals an exact 200 yard zero.

Elevation, temperature and wind matter too.

Some people like zero at 100. And some scopes suggest zero at 100.

sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

Do you live in a huge house where hallways are more than 25yards? Do you live in the country? Can you justify having to take a shot of more than 25yards? If you answered no to any of those then 25 is more than enough.

You are exactly right. It's basically for HD in a house in the city. When this is all said and done and the SHTF. My RD is gonna be placed on center mass and that will be all she wrote!

However, I do want a zero that I don't want to have to adjust for the times i go out to the range and shoot 100 yards. I'm just lazy that way! I did decide to go with the 36 yard zero that someone suggested from Vigilance Elite.

TBH, while my house is quite generously sized, there is no distance within it that I'd need to use sights for. I mean, seriously, it's a long gun, and we're talking spitting distance here. I'd zero at a range that you'd actually need to aim, and not overthink it.

Optics/sights offset is critical. Listen to the posts that include discussion of this offset. Without it, you can’t know how to sight your rifle.

Play with batteries, before blowing scarce & expensive ammo downrange.

The hall monitor types will cry about “25 yards is far enough”. Don’t listen to them. That world is long gone.

In case you haven’t been paying attention, we are in a civil war. Antifa is lighting CA, OR, and WA on fire. It is within the realm of possibilities that you will have to take 50-200 yard shots on them setting houses on fire and murdering your neighbors.

Wake up and smell the civil war. On Nov 4th, they will go insane.
