Well, there are alot of flavors of SHTF. And alot of functions that a firearm might serve in any given SHTF. But I follow the tack of the previous posters, think about classes of firearms.

            Not in any particular order:

            Handgun
            Shotgun
            Small caliber rifle
            Large caliber rifle

Large caliber rifle could break down further if necessary:
Mid range/mid sized game/ battle rifle - like an AR-15
Longer range/ large sized game/ battle rifle - like a .308 or better.

All of these categories could be evaluated for personal protection and hunting situations. I think it’s important to hit all the marks as best we can.

I guess if I had to pick one, I’d go with a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range, with a bayonet.

I do like the Ruger PCC idea. You'll have a carbine and handgun that use the same mags.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Well, you didn’t specifically say I get more than one - but tradition states you get a long gun and a sidearm:

                    Glock
                    Shotgun
                    SKS

                    In that order.

Depends on if I am running back down the street to my house-whatever I can get ready to blast with in 1 min to 3 min, likely my SA85M and a 9mm pistola.
Setting at home and the weenie hits the feces covered propeller, my choice of 2 .308 semi auto, and my CZ97B .45acp and start praying for BIG *** rain !

The same mag on primary and secondary top pick goes to the 5.7, it at least stands a chance over armor. You may miss the headshot, it happens.

Because you can, despite that not really answering the OP's question.

I assume because he wants most every situation covered. It seems pretty obvious.

It's not like he said he'd be packing an anti-tank rifle or rpg
