I've got many choices but it's hard to get away from an AR with 30rd mags. I love the AR308 platform but they're so darn heavy...

I understand that many folks here will think in terms of a handgun, for me I believe a short light pistol caliber carbine is just about the perfect compromise. A red dot sight and a light on the rail will complement the basic gun and significantly increase the versatility Also a good supply of 9mm +P or +P+ ammunition will settle most problems.

The new Ruger PC 9 with a adequate supply of Glock magazines makes sense to me.
