    Deleting Prices...just a thought...

Our of everybody posting on the messing of ads in the Marketplace, so far I see only 8 of us who contribute to Calguns.net.

Everyone else wanting to delete what they've written are on a free ride...I'd call it "whoring the Marketplace". They pay nothing yet want their own rules in place.

I'm amazed that most Marketplace users can't afford a $25 per year to support this site.

What seems logical to me is no Marketplace to those who won't support the site.

    Prove me wrong.

That would be detrimental to participation

      Are you serious?

I'll translate that as "I think $2 or so per month wouldn't be worth selling what I need to sell".

Is this the gun board for poor people?

...and I appreciate that. I don't think it would have any effect on those who use the Marketplace as their own private gun store. I'm not writing about those who sell a few guns over time.

Easiest might be to raise the price of what you're selling by $25, maybe.

If I owned this board there would definitely be an annual fee associated with having access to the marketplace. 10-25 bucks, somewhere around there.

I think everyone should have to leave prices in place even after sales go through so we can see going prices. I haven’t been in there in a while but always hated that guys would do that.

I’d charge per ad or item.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

If you people haven't noticed, Majority of members here only joined to exploit the marketplace. Most of these "members" don't contribute to the rest of the forum. All one has to do is take a gander at their post counts, how long they've been here, and look at the majority of their posts.

                        I haven't missed that.

Maybe the description of "" needs changing to "t".

What seems logical to me is no Marketplace to those who won't support the site.
Think of the countless legal PPTs that are arranged through CGN. In my eyes, the marketplace provides a space for people to connect and fosters people staying in compliance with the law. Call me crazy, but as one of the only places for CA folks to get together, learn, discuss, and conduct transactions re: firearms, I see it as an essential function of the site that should remain free for registered members.

I mean... some resistance, ey? Do you know of another place, either online or in person, that provides a space for people, in one of the biggest states in the country, to legally arrange for PPTs?

Have you seen some of the listings that went on in there? Some had 10+ page threads them bumping their crap or they pretty much set up shop. Every "event" we'd had from Sandy Hook to Freedom week and now, you get all these new "members" (I'm using that term loosely) here posting. Their first post is in the marketplace to capitalize on that current event. Remember $100 PMags during freedom week? These people are f-ing leeches imo and does a dis-service to this community. If vendors here have to pay to sell their wares, it should only be fair to charge private members as well. Craigslist isn't free to post jobs and selling cars
