    Gun Range question

I've been to a couple of public outdoor ranges recently. I've noticed some shooters are using forward grips, 20 or 30 round magazines, and regular pistol grips. I'm just curious if the law regarding banned items is enforced.

If bought during a legal time then it shouldn't be a concern

A range officer told me once. "We are in the safety business, not the law enforcement business"

          Don’t assume:
That the long magazine actually holds 30. It may be a blocked 10/30
That a pistol grip is banned. It may be a mag locked rifle.
That anything is actually contraband. It may have been legally obtained and/or grandfathered
That the gun is centerfire. There’s lots more leeway with rimfire guns.
That you’re supposed to do an LEOs job for him. You’re not.
That civil noncompliance is necessarily a bad thing.

I have a couple first round RAW firearms, one is an AR with every evil feature you can think of, including magazines that hold far more than 10.

            100% legal.

Yes some of these may be RAW. 100% legal. Don't hate, celebrate. And as always, MYOB

Best answer. Last statement is questionable.
I've been going to a public outdoor ranges for 3 years now, seen law enforcement 1 time, they came out to tell everyone that they got reports of possible full auto fire. They said "don't do it" and left. 3rd or 4th hand info, they have been out and checked serial numbers before, again I've never seen it.

I have seen some truly illegal stuff out there but it's none of my business as long as it's safe and done away from me.

It's not - civil noncompliance is quite common, especially in CA.

Every pot business (excluding ceramic/kitchen kind) in CA is illegal. Possessing and smoking pot is illegal. Growing is illegal. Selling is illegal. Yet CA has no problem with people breaking the federal law as long as it's something that fits their agenda. Try breaking federal firearms laws with the same impunity and see how quickly everyone gets uptight about civil noncompliance (in states that have relaxed firearm laws, but where federal strict regulations are still prevailing, e.g., FA laws).

Sanctuary cities for pot or immigration, sanctuary cities for 2A, right?

Most range concerns are for safety first. Liability as well since there are certain folks who are unsafe. Range monitoring is to mitigate this circumstance. I like monitoring at the range. It keeps others most times from doing careless things that could hurt others...
On point, lately law enforcement has concerns that superceed in most cases what is happening at the range right now.

Lots of legal ars in that configuration out there. No one can tell at a glance whether legal unless obvious SBR. Even some of those are legal if owner has proper licensing.

I can totally dig what you're saying. When I used to go to public ranges, I never tried to draw attention to myself. I no longer attend those places. But I say fly under the radar

                            This is sage.

Many here know me. I would never do anything other than possibly try to educate someone about the laws, just so they don't get caught for something they didn't know was illegal.

But people need to realize that if you decide to go that route, your own "MYOB" philosophy cannot be forced on others. There are people who will turn you in, and just because you don't think that's cool or their job, that doesn't change the result of someone dropping a dime.

                            BE SMART.
