Re-anodizing ar pistol lower

Spike's uses paint in the engravings. It is similar if not Testor paint. Could probably used a paint thinner/remover to get it out of there.

Dont worry about the PISTOL markings. Just worry about the serial number because that is what determine if it is registered as a pistol or not. I suggest get DLC or Black Nitride finish if possible.

This is a great point. The thinner won't hurt the anodized finish, so just might do the trick. OP, I hadn't seen the painted ones before; learn something new everyday!

My fear would be the lower is lost during shipping. If it's lost your SOL.

You might call Spikes and see if they did paint lowers. If they did, how would they recommend removing the paint.

You have to understand shipping the current anodized is going to open up hole dimensions. You will have to reanodize .0005" thicker then original thickness if you can figure that out (measure hole before and after to figure out depth).

Or you can mask all holes $$$$ before stripping.

Thanks for everyones input. I also sent an email to Spikes and i'm waiting for a reply back but looking at the color fill it looks like they used some kind of enamel/acrylic paint. I'm going to stop by local hardware store today to pick up some enamel thinner/lacquer thinner/mineral spirits and see how it goes. Will update the thread later with the results.
