I put the thin socks on my firearms in the safe with the rods. Well worth the expense. I have tags on the rods for identification, too.

Rifle Rods for Safe? Increase storage capacity?

I use them in both of my safes. It made it a lot easier to organize them, especially the safe that has all my rifles with pistol grips.Loyalty to country, ALWAYS. Loyalty to government, WHEN IT DESERVES IT. - Mark Twain

That's what I did along with using gun socks. However, whenever I remove a rifle, it's like a jigsaw puzzle to put everything back in as it was. Rifle rods seem like an interesting idea. It wouldn't help me though.Comment

One of the big space savers that I found with using rifles rods is removing the standard rifle rest shelf. The potential vertical rifle storage in the rifle rest space is significant.I've long read about Rifle Rods for interior gun safe long gun organization.
I did research a while ago but wanted to ask here; does anyone have them, would you recommend them, how well do they work for rifles?
What I recall concluding from my research is this:
- They will increase your safe's capacity by a very modest amount; anywhere from maybe 4-6 guns, depending on a variety of factors of course. Hopefully more, but don't bank on it.
- The biggest value proposition is that they make it much easier & faster to get to rifles stored in the back of your safe AND they keep rifles from knocking together / falling over & damaging each other.
I am mostly interested in the increased storage capacity; if I could get another 4-6 rifles in my safe, that would be great!
Does anyone use them, can anyone comment & give feedback for me please before I buy?
I'll also have to totally, completely rearrange my safe in order to use them, so I definitely want to ensure I'm making the right decision before buying....

Thanks guys!!

Oh yes for sure - that's absolutely what I'm going to do. The factory included interior rest does take up a TON of space & I look forward to pulling it out & expanding my safe's capacity!

i have them. did i get more space? probably not since i arrange them. but where they become a big help is making sure things don't topple over as you remove stuff. and where you want things kept as upright, the rods help.
in addition to scopes that take up space, bipods too. usually i have a QD mount on some harris bipods. but my bolt action doesn't and i have to remove the bipods else they get in the way, take up space and scratch around stuff.Comment

I'm in the same boat. You reach a certain point where it doesn't matter. It is just a game of tetris that hangs precariously on everything being in the exact proper place
I have to take a picture now, so I remember where everything belongs when I try to put the tetris puzzle back together. If my Vltor stock isn't collapsed to the right pin, things won't fit.Comment

Man these guys are fast....my order already shipped!!
I'm glad I bought direct from the manufacturer instead of Amazon...
I really want to try to knock this out this weekend, so...we'll see.....
I'll update you guys.
The way I see it; simply being able to remove the factory installed channel / wave-pattern insert should on its own free up space for at LEAST 2 more rifles per row....the channel insert takes up about 2" all the way around....
We shall see......
I also got some of the handgun hangers, so I'm curious to see how those work.
Any feedback / comments? I'm a little hesitant to stick stuff in my gun barrels like that, but I suppose enough people do it that it won't hurt the gun...and they're of course coated & everything....Comment

i was also considering that. though the barrel is steel and the handgun hangers are plastic coated, i decided to so with this instead.I also got some of the handgun hangers, so I'm curious to see how those work.

GREAT! Really encouraging to hear.....any tips / tricks?
Sounds like I should get a spray adhesive to really stick the lining to the bottom of my shelf, in addition to stapling it.
Did you do that?Comment

Oh come on, you know this is just a troll thread so they can see the inside of your safe LOLComment

Yeah...my only issue is those take up more space....which I don't really have....i was also considering that. though the barrel is steel and the handgun hangers are plastic coated, i decided to so with this instead.

I think I'm being overly OCD about it; I've seen lots of gun shops & other places that use those in-bore hangers. I'm sure they're fine.
