Rifle Rods for Safe? Increase storage capacity?

I've long read about Rifle Rods for interior gun safe long gun organization.

I did research a while ago but wanted to ask here; does anyone have them, would you recommend them, how well do they work for rifles?

What I recall concluding from my research is this:

    - They will increase your safe's capacity by a very modest amount; anywhere from maybe 4-6 guns, depending on a variety of factors of course. Hopefully more, but don't bank on it.

    - The biggest value proposition is that they make it much easier & faster to get to rifles stored in the back of your safe AND they keep rifles from knocking together / falling over & damaging each other.

I am mostly interested in the increased storage capacity; if I could get another 4-6 rifles in my safe, that would be great!

Does anyone use them, can anyone comment & give feedback for me please before I buy?

I'll also have to totally, completely rearrange my safe in order to use them, so I definitely want to ensure I'm making the right decision before buying....

    Thanks guys!!

Yes they work.. Increased the capacity for long guns by a third over the stock racks in the safe. Just staple the velcro to the underside of a shelf and load up

Looks like it would be ok for shotguns and hunting rifles with no optics.

Do you actually have more space in your safe or are you just wishing you did? I was moving some stuff around the other day. I don’t think any amount of organization will let me squeeze another 4-6 in there.

Yes I certainly think I have more space that could be available.

I'm currently using the cutout section like this:

and just look at it - there's ~2" of space around the entire border of that thing.
AND because of the way some of my guns are configured, I can't completely fill it up.

I've looked at it pretty hard & it definitely seems the Rifle Rods would open up more space for me and allow me to store more guns.

I've read a lot about them - including here on CG - and reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

Like I said, I just wanted a little extra reassurance before I pulled the trigger, but I'm gonna buy now, direct from them.

Let us know how it goes. I’m in exactly the same boat. Worried the rods won’t help me though given the lights, optics, compmags...
I have everything Tetris’d in place perfectly. Would love more room though.

OK I just placed my order on their site - it will obviously be a few weeks til I get them & dedicate half a day (or more ) to totally rearranging my safe & installing it.....

But I'll update this thread when that happens.

Hey also; not saying it rudely, but do search here; there are a lot of good threads & info on the Rifle Rods & pretty overwhelmingly positive reviews.

I did not find them to make much of a difference as scope still take up considerable room when your trying to not bump them.

That's what KILLS the space in any safe - the scopes.

I have a "24" gun safe, which means realistically my safe can accommodate 12 rifles without optics or pistol grips.

I removed the rifle racks that came installed in my safe and began using rifle rods a couple of years ago. In the left half of my safe, I was able to increase capacity from 6 rifles leaning all over the place to 11. They're in there pretty tight, and it's a pain in the *** if I want to remove the mosin nagant that I placed furthest in the back, but they absolutely help increase capacity.

Most of these guns are modern sporting rifles. But If you had primary shotguns or 10/22's or milsurps, rifles like that, you could easily get somewhere between double and triple original capacity.

                        They work just fine, but everything is close together;
have to remove some to get others in my experience.

I ended up placing my scoped guns one up and one down to get them all in. They are packed in like sardines. I was able to double the space by flipping every other rifle down.

I would do the rods but found I could do better flopping them.

I've got them, and won't ever go back to the old way of having channels cut out of pressboard with fabric to keep them apart. The other thing to get is to go to the local $.99 store and get some door stops for the rifles that the buttplate isn't square to the floor so that the rifles/shotguns stay upright.

ooh, i dont have that many optics but I will need to see how this effects my safe packing - socks on and nuts to butts
If it was a snake, it would have bit me.
