    PM: I'll take it!
You will need to drive to my local FFL late this Friday afternoon for the PPT.
That way I can just stop by there easily on my way home from work.
(turns out his FFL is over 30 miles away from me through rush hour traffic at that time.)

I only have $350 for the gun, so I need you to pay for the DROS and other fees.
(I'm not selling the gun for $300)

Can you sweeten the deal with some ammo?
    Ammo can be expensive.
BTW, I only shoot factory new stuff.

No, he did not get to buy the gun.

The PMs might be lowball offers. I just PM that I'll take it at the asking price. I've gotten a couple that way when everybody else wanted to haggle & quibble.

Still kicking myself for losing out on a choice combo at a reasonable price. Just couldn't get together on a meeting place. I was on chemo at the time & a 90 minute drive was a major undertaking. Shoulda sucked it up.

Not many combos interest me though, especially when they insist on including ammo at panic prices. Don't need ammo.

            And now this...

            Cal Guns "The New Armslist?"

            Last week...within 5 days i got played by 2 NewBie B-Hoz.

            1) PMd and telecommed and made a deal on ammo. Agreed on a $$$. Cemented the deal. Had a nice conversation with the seller and made, confirmed, inked the deal for the next day. All at his convenience. The next day a text, "Sorry, I change my mind. I can get more $$$ so i don't want to sell to you." His stuff his decision. Why take the time and effort; we agree on $$$, only to back out to try and sell for more? Not butt hurt but annoyed. Newbies, No honor and don't act like men.

            2) PMd offer to deal on G23 + ammo. Accepted Seller Newbie Zero itrader counter offer and asked a 2nd time for a phone call for plan to meet his FFL. PMd and posted PMd and posted...Crickets, alot of em... Next morning pistol bumped with a 20% price increase > WTF? Reported Mod the situation, that i wanted to out the A-Ho but didn't want to break any rules. Boom! - post yanked. That's right beyotche. No Cal Guns for you!

Cal Guns has become a real PIA with some stuff. However i keep finding people just like me which is great. Gotta kiss alot of frogs here lately to find the prince.

            Be patient! Best, Dave

The marketplace really should be locked/inaccessible to new users until they have a minimum post count and minimum account age.

Maybe minimum 50 posts, and 1 month account age before that section of the forum opens up..?

I don’t think AKFiles locks the marketplace. I was able to buy and sell on day 1 and made no financial donations.

I don’t think it’s the best idea either. I think banning people for posting in the marketplace is a better idea. You should not be allowed to post ANYTHING in someone else’s thread. No “pm incoming.” No”glws.” Nothing. That’s how it used to be, which is why the old cats always say “DO NOT POST IN MY THREAD.” Threads used to get closed down for that crap (I’m sure you remember). There are still rules in the marketplaces expressing these ideas, but they are no longer enforced. There are far too many stupid people CONSTANTLY bumping threads in the marketplace with their posts. This is not how the marketplace is designed to function.

I'm signed up on an out of state gun forum and they have the 50 post rule for PMing other members and posting in the FS section. I don't have a lot to say most of the time so it would probably take me
5 years to (maybe) make the 50 posts. Kinda sucks IMO, but their forum, their rules. Only joined it in the first place because a seller had an reloading item I wanted. Didn't work out obviously, sigh....

My only real marketplace gripe is bumping an ad to say it's sold. Just edit the original post to sold instead of bumping it to the top 😤

Not a good idea and its not going to work. Look.....I could generate, as well as you and anyone else, 50 posts in less than an hour. Plus, everyone has to start some place and all of us at one time had zero or one post. This is true for all CG members. The answer is to do your research and if the seller or buyer seem to be flakes then don't buy or sell and move on. I've been on CG for a long time. It doesn't take much of an effort to figure out who the flakes are. But on the other hand, I've had great transactions with newer members.
