Well yes and no, most of the time seller's tell me they get low ball offers, or something else like shipping, driving to an ffl, or get offer for trades when the listing states for sale/no trades.
Got lucky and bought a few things in the marketplace where posts have "pm sent" or "2nd in line" and the item is fine and nothing wrong with it.Comment

1. Sometime seller did not disclose or hyped the condition in the original ad and when some buyer does their homework by asking pictures and asks more questions, they decided to pass.
2. It could be the ammo came along with the gun from an inheritance or shot one time, don't like it no more or just want to get rid of it all.
3. Selling must take two guns is due to only having 5 selling transaction allowed per calendar year (DOJ). So often you'll see that on their last transaction or they have so many guns for sale you must take two to decrease seller's inventory to maximize the 5 allowed transactions.Comment

You will see the requirement to buy more than one gun more often now that long guns are also counted in the five transactions/yr allowed.
Get used to it.Comment

I saw 2 or 3 "I'll-take-its" for a pistol I was looking at. Ad only had 2-3 small, grainy photos. Curious, I contacted the seller and found out it was still available.
Then I found out why it was still there for sale. The seller would not give any more details on the pistol besides "unfired" and "it's new". Would not get any additional photo besides the out of focus photos.
Needless to say, I passed on it.Comment

Yes.
But I've also landed one, really rare, off roster pistol after being third in line. Simply by being diligent and politely persistent in following up with the seller. Lots of flaky folks on 'CG' that just don't/won't in any sort of timely manner.
Or to quote Woody Allen: "Ninety percent of success is showing up."
