    S&W Shield issue (Slide stuck)

Hello, I was cleaning my S&W Shield after a day at the range. When I put my slide back on I see this my guide rod sticking out and I cannot remove my slide. I've cleaned this many times and this is the 1st time this happened. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Had that happen to me once or twice and I had to rip the slide back out by force. Luckily didnt bend the recoil spring.

Regular Shield, not EZ, I've field stripped this so many times, first time this happened. I'm so bummed...This is EDC.

On Glocks when the slide gets stuck if you take off the rear slide plate and remove the striker the slide will come free, perhaps try that before you force it or go to the gunsmith.

HOLY COW! That's got to be about the biggest picture ever. However... I think I know what you're talking about. I don't have a Shield, but this symptom is not unique to the little S&W. The guide rod is a little off center, so it's hanging up. If you sort of jack the slide back and forth, while pushing the guide rod with your finger or a chop stick, it might go back into place. In the WORST case, you can protect the jaws on a pliers, and gently wiggle the guide rod. Be careful not to scratch or smash anything. You'll get it. Be patient.

I love the idea of having chop sticks in with your gun cleaning supplies

Can you make picture larger? It is hard to see it.

Some of you gun guys are ridiculous, I didn't post a pic bragging about my gun, I didn't ask 'what's the best 9mm to buy', I didn't accuse someone of being a 'poor' cause he didn't spend over $2000 on his gun, I didn't use the word clip instead of magazine, and some of you STILL find a way to say something negative...I seriously don't get you 'Negative Nancy's...I thought I asked a legitimate question. I work in th electronics industry, and sometimes I use a paper clip to help solve my problem. Nothing wrong with dude suggesting using a chopstick, at least he's trying to be helpful.

I didn't see anything negative on this thread, just people being light hearted. And you got some good answers...
