Stephen Hunter, although I think the series went a bit downhill from ‘Point of Impact’.

I also like the Nowhere Man series by Gregg Hurwitz.

I read ‘Terminal List’ by Jack Carr - it was OK, but I didn’t enjoy it enough to follow up with the rest. I found it interesting that the scene in ‘Terminal List’ where Reece goes to a ‘compound’ and gets picked up by plane is a place where I’ve gone shooting before. And yes, there is a runway and we’ve used it as a long rifle range.

Also, a friend of mine lives across the main road from the turnoff to the ‘compound’. (Not gonna reveal any more specifics out of respect for the owners.)

And every day the paper boy brings more."

I have enjoyed the series by C.J Box about the adventures of Joe Pickett, a Wyoming Game and Fish officer. The books are great action stories and are never slow reading.

The books are definitely best if read in order as the story line builds from one book to the next. There are about 20 books in the series.

Stephen Hunter books are all a good read. There is actually a chronological order to read them, only one or two I thought were iffy but for the most part, very good reads. I don't know what the order of books to read as I have them all at home and I'm at work...

        Happy 4th of July everyone!!

I'm actually kinda surprised I can't think of many books I read growing up that were "gun guy books".

The Tom Clancy books were great, especially the likes of Hunt for Red October and Red Storm Rising, though many of the Jack Ryan books and newer ones with his son in it are pretty decent.

Ironically I get to thank the fictional "Artemis Fowl" books for partially getting me hooked onto Sig Sauer before I even know my dad owned a couple. They never went into detail on a model or caliber, but every book had at least a couple mentions of the main character's dutiful bodyguard carrying and using his Sig Sauer handgun until the bodyguard got sidelined from injuries a couple books in.

I guess another generic group that got my interest are the various fictional books written for the Predator universe. Some of them are written by folks that really knew their guns. I recall one where the protagonist got into a game of cat and mouse with a human antagonist in the backwoods of Alaska, where they were essentially playing sniper/counter-sniper with a Chey-Tac M200 and an SR-25 respectively for a couple chapters while also trying to avoid getting taken out by the Predator in the woods at the same time.

I enjoyed the Jelly Bryce trilogy. Mike Conti

It was listed as fiction but lots of its narrative seems very accurate regarding early FBI years !

Am currently reading my 1st John Rain character novel. Its a page turner titled The Detachment .

It would seem the author has lots of experience with "Operators" or he does a good job faking it !
