    Your favorite gun guy books

What are some of your favorite books/book series that features (relatively) accurate gun depictions, and bad hombre heroes?

I'll start off and say my favorite series so far has been the Pike Logan series by Brad Taylor. Taylor consistently writes and pumps out a novel almost every year for the last decade, and he has really honed down his writing style to be exciting and realistic. Though the first book had a few things that were unrealistic (suppressors being completely silent, for one), I think he has improved in his research and the later books feature cool goodies like 300 Blk SBRs.

I've somewhat got into the Scot Harvath series by Brad Thor which is kind of interesting, but Thor's writing style I think is not as exciting as Taylor's. I'm also starting the Gray Man series by Mark Greany, which is actually pretty good, though I do feel bad for the hero as he (probably accurately) gets pummeled quite a bit.

What are some of your favorites?

I've enjoyed all of the Steven Hunter (the Wahlberg movie "Sniper" was based on one) stuff I've read. Can't beat Louis L'Amour if you like westerns.

Robert B. Parker's "Spenser" novels have LONG been a favorite of mine (the TV show got me to reading his books). He KNEW guns, and his books were a great read.

Yes Robert Parker books are still a great read. You might enjoy Ed McBain books too. He was a NYC cop and wrote some fun stories and the gun stuff is accurate .

A little older, but Don Pendleton's "Mack Bolan" books are great too! "The A-Team" was SUPPOSED to be more like the "Mack Bolan" series, but producers thought that too "dark" for network TV. Would love to see it developed the RIGHT way, however, for small or big screen.

+2 Mack Bolan books and Stephen Hunter books...both awesome series of books to read.

If you can find them, there was a series of books that I read in the mid to late 80's called The Last Ranger by Craig Sargent that were good books to read, again, if you can find them.

The first of the Tom Clancy books The Hunt for Red October, Red Storm Rising were the best he wrote.

A book called Team Yankee is also a great read, older book but good to read.
