Am I able to be a trustee with anyone? Or does it have to be a family member? My wifes aunt and uncle live in Phoenix and it would be nice to visit them more often

no, but a form 4 and 4473 must be filled out to take possession of the regulated item. one human being listed on the trust must submit fingerprints, photos and background check on the form 4 and the 4473.

No, a Form 1 or Form 4 application requires that every Responsible Person listed submits a fingerprint card and a photo. It requires at least one RP.

You can, however, let your uncle or aunt in a free state be the RP and your name can be added as a trustee once it's approved. The trust itself has to state that if you are not allowed to have firearms, you cannot be a trustee.
