Pin/weld muzzle device wiggles

    Randall, if you happen to check back in on this post, would wrapping a wet rag around the barrel and crush washer keep it cool enough to not ruin the spring temper on the crush washer?

    Or could I use a jam nut?

    Problem is, I can't find a reasonably priced muzzle device to get this 13.5" barrel to a tad over 16" without some sort of spacer.

      No need to keep the barrel cool.
      Simply do NOT put so much heat into the welding job.
      One pin/weld is enough.
      Keep the weld SMALL and do it FAST.

      Should come out more like this:


      Can you see the heat effected zone around the actual weld puddle?
      Now look at your pictures again and see how much bigger the heat effected zone is.
