So I went to their store, in stock, in cart, payed and got the same letter.
    F them.

Yeah, I think there have been a couple threads about Optics Planet & their questionable marketing & stocking strategies.....their site has always seemed scammy to me....kind of like a D-grade amazon or aliexpress or something.

I can't recall if I've ever bought from them or not, but based on the numerous recent threads here, I'm not going to.

I'd rather support my LGS or another legit gun store with an online presence.

Yes. I'm never buying from them again. Unless I'm willing to wait 6 months for the stuff.

Normally I don't have issue with them. But ever since the shutdowns, they have been really delayed.

Then the post office they use in Aurora, IL is terrible. Anything that ships through there is at risk of damage or getting lost. Delays are almost guaranteed as well.

Not to derail this thread, but mask requirements were put in place by the County Health administration as a condition of allowing the stores to do business during the quarantine.

Optics Planet's inventory accuracy is pretty much worthless. They never list anything as out of stock even though it's very obvious that is the case.

Hhhmmm... Never had any issue with OpticsPlanet... Yet! *knock on wood*

That said, I think they are quite transparent on stock availability, at least in my case. For example, I just placed the order below for a Safariland holster. Before proceeding to check out, there is a place you can click to Check Product Availability - it clearly says 20~30-days which is I would expect since Safariland (direct) doesn't seem to have any themselves.

Even going through retailers like LAPG, etc. are the same...

That said, OpticsPlanet has the best deal... (Except that effing CA taxes!!!)

                  So, wish me luck!

OpticsPlanet is like Palmetto State Armory - you order and then you wait.... a while.

If you know that going in, it works better.

I just ordered from them on June 8th and I got a shipping notification today, June 9th. Hopefully others can get serviced as fast in the future. I have only ordered from them a few times, years ago, but never experienced any problems.

This thread made me look up my order, submitted April 10. Two Safariland holsters. Estimated shipping date is only available on one of them and now says September. Sent an email a few weeks ago, took a week to answer and was a boilerplate response that didn't address my question.

If you look at the product pages, they show up as "add to cart", yeah right.

Fourth time I've ordered from them, first time this has happened. I'll be cancelling my order and deleting the bookmark. I'm in no hurry but this is ridiculous.

Optics Planet used to be a really good vendor 10-15 years ago.. Then their inventory control system went to hell and later they started having problems knowing what was "legal" in certain states. I quit using them after lots of other people began having problems and I knew it wasn't just me.

There are just too many vendors who work hard to earn my business and I have yet to not be able to find a better price somewhere else, so I've moved on. Now that I live in a state where I can order from who I want, the LAST thing I'll do is reward a company with my business that won't send legal items to the state that I came from. It's their loss and I won't cry when they go out of business. I also am not going to sympathize with people who are too lazy to research who they order from when they suddenly have problems - there's just too many reports on lousy service from them..

The last three orders I made from Optics Planet from this month and last month, I received a "shipped" email in two days at the most. I've seen bigger delays in the past. If it doesn't show "In stock. Ships in X days", better click that link as they have a habit of listing items for sale with shipping dates days, weeks or months down the road... and sometimes items with no estimated shipping date at all. If that's the case, don't put that item in your cart or you're setting yourself up for disappointment.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!
