It could be that the seller changed his mind or got a better offer. If the seller is now living out of state and was only in CA for a short time, he may have just run out of time before he is leaving and decided to forgo the sale.

Is this your WTB for Makarov/Tokarev or Ruger Mark IV?

Yea it was that one. They said they had multiple rugers and even sent pics through email, they pmed me here on Calguns and then we moved off to email. They have a 46 itrader rating so that’s why I found it weird. It just went downhill after I asked if they would go to a store or FFL. If it was a misunderstanding somehow then I’m fine with that.

Maybe he thought you had an 03/COE? and wanted to sneak one in while he was in CA and you be cool about it.

Is this like the end of a Tarantino movie that just didn't work out ?

OP, You didn't do anything wrong, consider yourself lucky.

maybe it's something innocent like they live in another state, where you don't need ffls for transfers, now and he thought you lived in that state to...or something to that effect.

The important thing is no crimes or mistakes or deals were committed.

I think it was likely that he just ran out of time. I was a similar situation too, leaving the state with 101 things to do and selling an off roster gun was the lowest thing in my list of priorities. But a simple explanation to a fellow Calgunner would have been nice.

Once he changes his CA DL to his new state, I don't think he could easily sell in CA anymore, although CA still considers him a resident by the virtue of still owning property in the state. Someone smarter than me probably can explain how he could have.

                    Do not be surprised.

Legit buyer and sellers communicate by PM. there is no reason for seller to have your email.

Also, since you are new, always post the thread so others know who you are talking about.

If it was an off-roster gun, and the seller was a legit resident of another state-he probably realized he could not do PPT transfer legally in ca. Additionally he may have concluded the op was doj and he (th seller) could be walking into a sting op.

Or maybe OP missed out on a great deal on an off roster gun

I would like to know who is using us for iffy transactions.

"They" have been here since the beginning.

Name the seller so he can come in this thread and give his version of the story.
