I have seen firemen set up to put out fire's, everything might be lost before the first drop is pumped. I think their goal is not to save your house but to keep it contained, and to keep it from spreading.

-My homes secured (great alarm system) and crime is low

-Not to mention both my wife and I work from home sometimes so chances of the home being alone for more than 3 hours is slim.

With all that said, do I really need to spend 5k on a safe?

So, I stumbled on this company and viewed dozens of videos on them already. I’m just still wanting to see if anyone here may have personal experience with them or have something (good or bad) to say about them.

A decent safe doesn't cost 5k, and there's no such thing as fireproof.
If your house catches fire, the fire department is going to douse your home with water, and they wont let you in to to your safe.
Consider everything in your safe will be rusted or burnt by the heat, steam, or water.

That said, Sturdy Safes are only a few thousand and are legit security devices.
Make sure you have appropriate insurance and are actually covered. Meaning, if you're worried about your jewelry/gun/cash/pokemon collection, don't just put it in the safe and call it good, make sure it's covered by your insurance.

Pretty sure your fire department wont get to your house in 2 minutes, or that police will arrive in 5.
Pretty sure your home security isn't "great" either, realistically it's probably normal to bad, just like the rest of us.

A safe is a good idea, surely you can afford 2k, so buy one, put it somewhere inconspicuous, bolt it to concrete or whatever, and enjoy your piece of mind that you've done your best.

          Lets get real.

Is your house going to burn down, or will there be an earthquake/tornado/hurricane/etc? Maybe, so plan for that with insurance, everything will be a write off, it will all be ruined.

Will your house get burglarized, possibly, so get a safe and harden your property if you want.
Be disciplined in OP sec, don't let strangers know what you own or let weirdos overhear your party plans as you leave the restaurant, don't leave your personal info in your vehicle, or have your home address saved in your car GPS, etc.

Will your home be invaded? Not likely and hopefully not, but since this does happen every day, carry or have quick access to your defensive arms.

So I got one of the smaller securits, just to test it out. I feel like I just mite be able to tweak this thing open with minimal tools. I would not recommend this to anyone, unless u want to put quick access stuff in it. Meaning, items that are not too expensive, and things that u can accept being stolen, if a thief wanted to spend an extra few minutes on it. It's definitely, not, anywhere near, TL rated. Just think about it as quick access. This is only my opinion...

I did more digging and did find I wanted a bit more security. So I looked into this one

Thanks to everyone who chimed in...

Decided not to go for the cabinets and take in a bit more security, so im looking more at their higher tiered fully welded more traditional styled "safe".

Cool video here for a good idea on how it can be configured.

5k for safe? I spent about a 3rd of that and I love my liberty fatboy Jr extreme. Sometimes I wish I would've went bigger but overall I'm satisfied with it

Ultra light and gun safe are two phrases that shouldn't go together. That bit of marketing made me chuckle.

Take any gun safe "fire rating" with a grain of salt. They are not UL fire rated as far as I know. If your house burns down the contents of the safe are toast. See what I did there.

No doubt that safe will buy you some time but there are probably better options out there.

Right now I don't have a safe. Everything is locked in a homemade plywood workbench/cabinet (and within that, locked in gun cases) that is purposely made to NOT look like gun storage and rather has a few bi-lingual pesticide storage warning stickers on it. I also keep NOTHING in plane sight in the garage that indicates guns are around.

                            Sub-optimal? Yes.

Better than an out in the open secure-it filing cabinet type of thing that screams "get a flat head and pry me open!" I think so.

Eventually I might get a secureit type of deal but only when I can figure out how to hide it completely.

Before you ask, no, I do not have the budget to get an actual real gun safe.
