I have a related question as a first time buyer — I have a handgun and long guns bought retail in DROS (tomorrow is day 10) and I bought a rifle from the FFL. Would the receipt from the FFL for the rifle be a copy of the DROS or should I get an itemized receipt? Also buying some ammo from FFL.

A receipt is a receipt, DROS is a state-required thing, they are not the same. If you bought a cleaning brush, it would never be on a DROS.

Look to see if there are any known issues with what you are buying.

When buying from an FFL that's a 'mom and pop shop', should I expect to get a receipt for purchased guns, ammo and fees? (transfer, DROS, ammo background check). I have receipts for the other firearms that got shipped the FFL so I'm good there.

To the OP's question, I'm wondering if I could have a problem later on without a receipt for a gun purchased from the FFL. Maybe no big deal.

The only time I do a bill of sale is for a curio or relic direct to the purchaser, just because I want some document showing the transfer if they decide to be an idiot and not file the requisite paperwork.
