    How are people pursuing PPTs?

My impression was FFLs are by appointment only.

Given that, I doubt very much they’ll take an appointment for a PPT over a gun sale.

    What have u guys experienced?

Most ffls I'm friends with are closed appt only For pick up only. Most have no fire arms in stock. A few are picking up the slack and doing Ppts to fill time. There are Ffls in Sf Bayarea that will make any excuse not to be a Ppt and others that under no circumstances do Ppt. Unless you know someone or purchase a consignment Firearm.

I had to beg one of my favorite FFLs to do a PPT recently, because they are not doing them. I was the buyer and this was a very hard to obtain off roster gun and the seller was pressed for time and visiting from out of town.

I brought them a case of Zingers but I need to bring them some more goodies when I go back for pickup, maybe some of my Texas jerky stash.

As it was there was a long line out the door and they were only allowing 3 people in the store at a time. There were a lot of first timers there and it was good to see.

There is another good store in town that is doing everything by appointment only, and they are doing PPTs.

A nice bottle of whiskey typically does the job right?

In Sac, RCGE is straight up not doing any PPTs. They hated doing them to begin with and this is the perfect excuse to refuse to do them.

The Gun Range is only doing 5 per day and only Tues through Thurs.

Surprisingly enough, Turners is actually the most accommodating. They will do PPTs by appointment, all you have to do is call ahead and let them know. Open Tues through Sat. Last PPT at 4pm.

When this is all over, I think I'll be doing more business at Turners. I think they have the best policy.

RTBA-LA in Burbank are doing PPTs by appointment.

They have an online calendar customers can use to book an appointment on:

I did a ppt yesterday at Turners in Orange. I am the buyer. Turners said they are walk-in only for ppt. We agreed to meet at 3pm. The seller arrived at 2:30sh and signed in on the list. He was told 1-1/2 hour wait. I got there at 3pm and we talked in the parking lot for about 15 minutes and he got a call saying we were up. Walked up to the storefront and waited maybe 10 minutes and went inside. Did the ppt and were out by 4pm. I was impressed. As I was leaving I was able to make an appointment for the pick-up. I wish I could remember the guy's name that helped us. Really a good, knowledgeable guy. If I can get his name when I pick up I will post it.

And in all fairness, just because JMB did it doesn't mean anything. He'd have won WWII with a soup can, a fork, and a couple rocks. Seriously, even McGuyver and Steven Hawking get together every now and then and are like "How the **** did he do that?..."

If it's a rifle maybe try Big5. Their website lists a number of locations open in CA.

I have a PPT coming up at Riflegear - you can send them an email to book an appointment (which is what I did).

Be very careful on which FFL you use during these prolonged DROs periods. Some FFLs will refuse to release the firearm if the status is undetermined by the DOJ after 30 days. So make sure you check what their policy is.

I have a firearm locked up at Turners right now and if it isn't approved within the week I will pretty much lose out on my DROS fees, since they are one of those FFLs that will not release under undetermined. So imagine what will happen if it was a PPT.

Yeah, when they want they can be efficient. One time we walked into Turners Corona like 40 mins before closing, the manager gave us an attitude but they completed the PPT in less than 30mins.

Being friends with the workers helps a great deal, a nice tip at the end of a transfer goes a long way, I have been doing that for years, what's $10 to $15 to buy them lunch or something, and with that will treat you better and do any transfer you want to do...
