After researching the laws as proposed and settled as laws in effect I got a CMMG 22lr conversion BCG and Black Dog mags. Its not a tack driver BUT it is legal under the law. Keeping the centerfire BCG separate and lock up in the separate location I am satisfied it is 100% legal and not an AW. This is why I went for 22lr conversion. And mine is full length barrel and no BB.

A 10.5 barrel ( yes the barrel) is still considered rifle/carbine length and .22 can be built ( any configuration) just as long as the overall rifle ( fixed stock and muzzle ) is above 26" . No round mags too. im getting both sides and being new. i just really need to look this up some more
What you propose is a violation of the NFA, no different than building a machine gun. A federal felony.

16" barrel, or longer. 26" OAL or longer if rimfire, and in CA centerfire must be 30" or longer if semi auto.

Just be aware that there is not a state in the USA where it is legal for you to install a 10.5" barrel on a rifle without prior permission from the ATF, paying for and receiving a tax stamp, and then observing all special laws which pertain to NFA firearms.

But in most states you can go buy a lower and make a pistol from it. No go with our roster.
