Honestly during these weird times, if you wanted to sell the gun quick it may not be such a bad deal to drive 45mi if the guy had a relationship with the FFL. But I would not even consider it without talking to the buyer by phone and feeling them out, and doing as much research on the buyer as I could.

I would also make sure the buyer inspected good quality photos of the gun and agreed to the price before driving, no haggling after you get there over a small scratch or something else that was not described. And no letting his gunsmith friend start pointing out this or that perceived issue to get you to accept less. In short, a commitment to no BS.

Ask him pay a deposit? Something to cover your gas and time to drive out there if he bails. If he is serious, he may pony up. Alternative is to have him come to your FFL.

Isn't Rio Vista somewhere along the delta? I think Craig Breedlove had his most-recent land speed record-attempt car shop located there. That was almost 20 years ago.

Before I were to go I'd triple-check on the area this alledged FFL is located. There are certainly areas to avoid. We definitely don't want to read any future thread titled, "I was JACKED in Rio Vista"!

Mike’s was legitimate but as far as I know is no longer in business. I live in Rio Vista. I might be thinking of a different former FFL though. Either way, I’d make them meet at a place of your choosing.

I've done enough business with deadbeats that when I'm selling I pick the FFL...don't like it, go buy somewhere else. I also require the buyer to text me when they leave their house, I'm not lraving mine till he leaves his. I generally telk them upfront that I reserve the right to walk away at any point, even for no reason at all.
