Rifle Gear Says Pickup Times Running Longer Then 10 Days

Its usually been a few hours at the most for me, sometimes closer to the end of their business day. I always emailed them first thing in the morning.
Its pretty empty these days because you are only allowed in by appointment. I think there were may two or three other customers when I was there. How crowded is Rifle Gear these days? I went there in early March, just before the COVID situation exploded. Back then, it was busier than usual, not that bad, but the wait was too long for me, so I left. I believe right after that, when the virus panic really started, they wouldn't let you in without an appointment. Their relatively small parking lot must have been full, and I bet people were parking on the street and even at the nearby Fry's Electronics. The shelves must have been stripped bare. So now its about 45 days later, so I wonder if the crowds are smaller and the inventory more plentiful?
The last time I was there (two weeks ago), the handguns section was rather empty. Mostly pricey 1911s and revolvers. They still had a few rifles and shotguns up on the walls. Ammo seemed ok. According to the staff helping me, panic buying was still going on (just keep an eye on the Glock inventory online at any time on their website to get an idea). But they were receiving inventory every so often.Comment

It's empty now, since they're only accepting appointments for the time being. Last time I was there, they were still rejecting walk-ins. Stopped by today. Aside from three 1911s, a pair of FNs, a couple of Walthers and Brownings and revolvers, the handguns section was empty. Slim pickins on the rifles and shotgun walls as well. It could be they have more stuff but haven't put it out yet.
I was told that DROS approval is currently running closer to 20 days and that people should just wait to be called to set up their appointment once their DROS clears.
And dig this: a few people have actually forgotten to pick up their guns within the 30 day time frame. So quite a few noobs have had to re-DROS their firearms. Only adds to the backlog.Comment

Do you call Riflegear everyday, once past 10 days, for an update OR wait patiently for them to call you?Comment

I've never been to RG, but I would bet that for every minute that someone (at the business) is on the phone, that is another minute that could have been doing something more productive. Think of all the hours spent repeating oneself, over and over again, because hundreds of folks are calling. Sit back, or go outside and get it off your mind. I'm in the same boat with a project gun that I was able to get into my FFL eighteen days ago, and haven't heard anything, other than their e-mail update that it's all over the place in terms of approvals, so with that I have more than enough to do with other stuff.Comment

I just send them an email requesting an appointment if my DROS has cleared. And they would get back to me with a ballpark. But now they switched to the "don't call us, we will call you" approach, it can only mean a lot of time has been wasted telling customers "no go today" in person.
They do seem to be tired of repetition. It's pretty obvious, at least to me, that this situation is taking its toll on them. That's why I try not to stress about the waiting period.I've never been to RG, but I would bet that for every minute that someone (at the business) is on the phone, that is another minute that could have been doing something more productive. Good points.
Thanks for the advice.
Only learned of the delay after ppt on 5/7.
At the ppt, I asked..Should I make the appt NOW fit the pickup on 5/17 or wait until 5/17.
That's when I learned about all this.

So it seems the delays have gotten worse? I picked up on day 13 on 4/11 at Riflegear (by my own choice, and that was when people first started seeing delays up to 16 days).
Had an appointment, which they have been doing solely since that time. It was great; no traffic, got there, they called texted me they were ready for me 15 minutes earlier than my scheduled time.
No need to take a number, no waiting, in and out - shortest amount of time I've ever been in their store or made that trip than any prior time I had ever bought anything there even on a slow day.-----------------------------------------------

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?Comment

I was told at OC Indoor in Brea today that it was likely 14-16 days.Comment
