Thought about those as well. Also found a cabinet that I can bolt to the floor and back wall of the closet that's something like 17"x10"x55" that would work.
I have no grand ideas that it's going to stop a determined burglar. But it gets things a little more hidden and out of the way and it's just a deterrent. If someone really wants what's inside, they'll get it.sigpicComment

40mm cans.
When you can fill 3 EACH, of everycaliber you own, you're STARTING to be "allllllllllllriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight..."

24" isn't very wide and obviously presents you with some challenges. However, I can appreciate your space constraints.
It doesn't sound like security is a high priority and your looking to blend in. If so, you may consider an old, broken, 24" wide refrigerator or even a kitchen base cabinet or pantry depending on any height restrictions.
Or you could go with a Graffunder safe.Comment

There isn't a safe in the world that can't be cracked. Certainly not a home safe or knaack box. Just put the ammo underneath your bed and trigger lock the guns if you have kids.Leftists Call their own Marxism a far-right "Fascist Conspiracy Theory" <- Link to their playbookComment

Don’t have any kids.
I nixed the idea of putting it in the narrow space in the closet and went with another location.
I ended up finding an old welder’s box on Craigslist. It’s almost perfect and just barely fits 5,000 rounds of 9mm and 750 shotgun shells, and its lockable and has holes in the bottom so it can be bolted down. Fully loaded so heavy AF (well over 250lbs). Two determined people could carry it off, and obviously you could just cut or pry the lock off, but it would take a bit more effort to do so than if it’s contents were just left out. Not a bad score for $40 for the box.Last edited by Vinnie Boombatz; 03-21-2020, 2:36 PM.sigpicComment

I hear ya OP, I don't think a safe is needed to store ammo. I really think a job box is the best way to go for storing ammo. It would even make a good coffee table in a man cave. Filled up, hec even half full there's no way 1 or 2 guys could take it. Bolting it down makes it even better.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Costco is always a good source.
After I filled up my first gun safe, it was small so I bought 2 of the HF safes http://https://www.harborfreight.com...afe-64009.html just to store ammo in. Full of ammo, they were pretty heavy and I didn't put the wheels on! I bought a second much larger safe so those just sit now but the HF safes did what I needed and at a good value.Last edited by BrassCase; 03-22-2020, 11:08 AM.I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

I have two Home Depot job boxes (the little versions), and I wish I had bought the standard sized. Both are stuffed and I need more storage.Calguns Contributor
