    Ammo storage options...

My pistol and shotgun are locked up but I have a bit of ammo that's just in boxes or ammo cans (about 5,000 9mm rounds and 1,000 shotgun shells). I have limited space and want it stored out of plain sight. The space I have available is 24" wide. Ideally something that I could bolt to the floor like I did with my Fort Knox pistol box.

Was thinking of two of these Stack-On boxes, secure one to the floor, and bolt the other on top of the first one.

Keep in mind this would only be for ammo and not looking for fire protection or heavy duty theft prevention, just a deterrent if someone did break in when I wasn't here.

I also was looking at lockable job site boxes and welder's boxes, but they dont seem to exist in anything smaller than 36" wide.

why dont you just build a little wooden one. Cheaper IMO
If you're worried about it being out of sight, you probably need more

That box your looking at can be opened with a prybar.
Look at the jobsite box. Twice the money but twice as safe.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Every gun show and most gun stores has lock boxes that would probably fit your space. I bought one that's 24" wide, 48" tall and 12" deep for $100 at Turner's a few years ago. I also use it strictly for ammo.

          Yup.
Make sure it's big enough for buckets.
Place ammo in plastic bucket, get airtight lid done.

Yes, I am aware of that. Like I said, just a deterrent. Not looking for a safe, and its still easier than just picking u the boxes and carrying them out. Plus they're out of sight.

Now I'll just sit back and wait for others to chime in and tell me I need a $5,000+ safe.

And you obviously didn't read my sentence about job site boxes.

any idea what make or model those are? Sounds like it's exactly what I'm looking for.

A bigger or another safe? You can usually pick up a decent size costco safe for cheap from local auctions just to keep your ammo in.

The Fresno public auction have auctions every week and often have several costco safes. I have a 14 gun safe from the auction that was brand new, unused for $85. It was open without a code, that is why they go cheap. I took it home and googled default codes for that safes brand of lock and the default code worked as the store did not change it.

I got another safe that did not have available default codes, but was also open, only no key or code. I took the inside door pannel off to expose the actuator, on the actuator is usually a barcode, you can use a bar code reader app on your phone to read the barcode, which is usually the default code for that actuator which was true in my case, with that default code I was able to program my own code and the safe was good to go. This was a smaller safe and got it from the auction for $25.

These are a good option if you just want to buy, code then sell or to use for storing stuff like your ammo or paperwork etc. I even give them away to family as gifts.

For anyone in the fresno area or willing to drive there to pick up, you can bid online. You can watch the site for each weeks auction and items. Here is a link to this weeks safes available, they are just smaller ones but check back often, they sometimes have the larger ones. https://publicauctionrus.hibid.com/lots/?q=safe

YES I DID read your comment about jobsite boxes. Maybe you should learn how to look past the first page when you search. Or let the.person looking for you to go thru more than one page.

Apparently you didn't. Yeah, I saw that one before I started the thread, and if you dive deeper into the specs it's 17" DEEP, and 37" WIDE. Home Depot has the length and width mixed up. Nice try though.

At least remove or paint over the STACK ON, since it's a well known cheap gun safe brand.
