, our man in Alaska, says you may have heard on the news about a Southern California man who was put under 72-hour psychiatric observation when it was found he owned 100 guns and allegedly had 100,000 rounds of ammunition stored in his home. The house also featured a secret escape tunnel.

By Southern California standards, someone owning 100,000 rounds is
    considered "mentally unstable."
In Michigan, he'd be called "The last white guy still living in Detroit."
In Arizona, he'd be called "an avid gun collector."
In Arkansas, he'd be called "a novice gun collector."
In Utah, he'd be called "moderately well prepared," but they'd probably reserve judgment until they made sure that he had a corresponding quantity of stored food."
In Kansas, he'd be "A guy down the road you would want to have for a friend."
In Montana, he'd be called "The neighbourhood 'Go-To' guy."
In Idaho, he'd be called "a likely gubernatorial candidate."
In Georgia, he'd be called "an eligible bachelor."
In North Carolina, Virginia, W.Va., Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky and South Carolina he would be called "a deer hunting buddy."
And in Texas: he'd just be "Poor Bubba, who's a little short on ammo."

After this run is over, I may have to buy extra and wait for the next crisis.

Looks like if the timing is right, every four years or so you can double your money.

      Profit!

(Just kidding, I stocked up before the new laws.)

Yah, I'm in that boat myself. Experienced shooter but first time owner (picking up on Monday), and having a bastard of a time finding a definite source of even a single box of good JHP 9mm to load with for home defense, nevermind getting a few hundred rounds for going out and familiarizing with this particular pistol.

Ironically, I have a few boxes of .40 and .45 WWB laying around from range days with friends, but those won't do me any good

I hope you are not surprised by this given your timing. And gotta ask.. why didnt you buy a 40 or 45?

            Not remotely surprised.

Annoyed by the timing of the outbreak though, I was about to buy something right before this whole situation came to be, and then when I was about to pull the figurative trigger, all the panic-buying started, then I couldn't find it new and had to wait for the right PPT opportunity.

In an ideal world I'd have gotten a .40 or .45 and likely will later this year, but for the first unit I want something that the better half is comfortable shooting, and based on experiences taking her to the range, she didn't like anything bigger than 9mm.

Please consider joining the NRA/CRPA, if you are not already a member, to help protect the right you just exercised into the future. Without those two groups fighting the good fight all these years, you would not have been able to make that purchase.

Even worse, us guys that have tons of ammo can't help you out because of the new laws.

Yes, we all should have learned our lesson a while back. I know I did. Ammo is stacked up deep and plenty of reloading components, too.
Now the hunt for tp can commence.
