I called my last store on that policy after noticing that on the receipt and they said you can still pick it up down to the minute. It's just on their receipt because some people (enough to make a policy) are unreasonable and get mad when they have to wait for the actual law. I have another store that prints out the exact date and time and they highlight it for you.
Funny thing is, when I went to pick it up one of the newer store clerks called me on it and I said I called in advance and that your policy is 11 for our protection. Another clerk was quick to correct the new worker but the worker didn't look pleased to have me contradict him.Last edited by tabascoz28; 03-08-2020, 6:57 AM.Comment

Every dros in Ca has the start and earliest pick up date on the top of form.Comment

Yep, the firearms section manager told me he's get people in his showroom pitching a fit like a 3 year old because he wouldn't release a gun that still had an hour or three left on the DROS. Causing a scene and cussin' up a storm. They seriousy thought it was Bass Pro doing it to them and not the state.Buy made in USA whenever possible.Comment

Because of DST you have to add an extra hour.Comment

The problem is many people who bought at 4pm show up at 10am on the 10th day. They are told to come back after 4pm and waste more time pleading to get it now. Easier just to say come back on day 11. The new DROS system that prints out date & time makes it more foolproof but not idiot proof.Comment

Your Dros paper has (top left corner) date and time after which you can pick up. This was added more than a few years ago. Prior to that, illiterate FFLs and counter clerks who could not figure out "240 hours from now" just counted eleven on their fingers.
If your dros is approved, the Store is Open, and your Dros paper shows pick up time = 1 minute ago, you can go pick up your gun. No FFL can argue with that.Comment

^^^ Exactly.Comment

Whether it is 10 or 11 days, it doesn't really bother me. Like others have said, many FFL's have a standing policy to make it 11 days for reasons mentioned.
What bothers me is that this is for EVERY purchase. The intent of the waiting period is to have a 10 day cooling off period. With this logic though, the waiting period should only be for the first firearm purchase. All other subsequent purchases should be instantaneous.
Democrats are always talking about common sense gun control. There's no common sense at all, especially here in CA.NRA Life MemberComment

I just picked up a new SP-01 on 2/28 and they handed me a note with the suicide prevention info on it in English and Spanish. Asked they guy, this new for this year and he said yeah.Comment

Yeah, these flyers were mentioned before, some kind of local ordinance to shame you for buying a firearm.Originally posted by ysr_racerPlease don't bring logic and reason into an interwebs discussion
