    Advice on Bulk Ammo purchases

I am curious if most people on calguns buy bulk ammo online and go through thier FFL, Walmart or wait for a local sale/event? I seem to be spending $$$ more than I like to admit at the range store. Hella convenient but costly. Reloading is out for now, as we do not have the room.

Any recommendations on some good range ammo? Not doing anything crazy or long distance, just plinking and getting used to the new AR. Basically just hitting the plates w/ iron sites and a little paper practice till uncle sam get's me some optics. Would like to be able to protect my Costco Water and TP supply

I was looking to pick up some 7.62 Soviet and .308 for the AR. Maybe 250 rounds to start and see how it fires. Would hate to get 1000rds that won't cycle properly.

Any shops or things to avoid?

    Thanks

              Where are you located?

LAX Ammo is good for walk-in purchases.

Note: in-store prices are not the same as online. Call first.

Buying ammo at the range helps support the range. I don't mind buying from the range now and then for basic sighting of a rifle or for pistol ammo.

I won't buy from Walmart now (anything) if I don't have to. Their SJW 'no AR ammo' is BS, playing to the anti's.

Some FFLs charge very little to receive ammo. Some don't charge at all.

Mine charges me nothing, but then again I give him all my business. It's one of the benefits of having a business relationship with your LGS rather than trying to run around shopping the latest $5 discount on a Glock.

LAX seemed enticing with their ads... Until you see the receipt with TAX added in!!!

I found an LGS 2-mins' drive from home. They supply me 2Ks of 9mm every quarter at around $190/1K-rds (tax inclusive).

Whats the consensus on LAX branded ammo? I have heard to stay away from their reloads, but what about their new stuff?

I buy in bulk online. A recent sale at outdoorlimited.com had new 9mm at .17 per round.
$169.99 for 1k of 9mm. Generally I pay between .15 to .18 per round. With a 03FFL and COE, I get it shipped directly to my door.

The one thing I recall is that they were short on the count in bulk boxes in at least one thread.

I bought a couple boxes of 50 in 9mm and had no issues.
