Does anyone really carry concealed this way?

    i know i can't

seems like it would be awkward pulling either right handed and left handed - looks like a nice way to conceal, not sure about the drawing feasibility - maybe with the right angle? if im not pocket carrying im generally around 4 o'clock - any more than that seems like i have to twist my elbow and wrist around

The short answer is: Yes. Many people.

A traditional criticism is that one ends up 'sweeping' themselves with the draw. The counter is, not anymore so than other methods and, in the end, it might be better to 'sweep' yourself than others.

I think the answer lies with the individual in terms of which way they feel most comfortable turning their arm to draw the firearm. For some, palm in, where the pistol's butt is pointing the other direction, is awkward and, thus, not only inhibits the speed of the draw, but the smoothness, finger placement, etc. It's kinda like left- vs. right- eye dominant. You can train to shoot with "the other eye," but there is a 'natural' way of doing it and that depends on the person.

Thats exactly how I carry (CZ P-01) just with a slight cant to the right. Made my own custom IWB holster out of an Alien Gear shell & a leather backer w/ metal clips. Most comfortable location for me, especially in a vehicle. Fits right in the small of my back.

I used to carry my G30SF like that. I'm right handed and would clear the shirt with left hand while drawing with the right. With practice it's possible to present very fast.

That said, this is probably not a good option for someone who is, let's say, on the "heavier side" in terms of body weight to height ratio.

I think i heard somewhere that it would be a bad idea if you fell on it, right on your spine.

I was wondering if that was middle-of-back. Meh... the secret is - DON'T fall.

I've carried a S&W 1006 and a 1911 that way MANY times over the past 30 years. NO issues to date!

How did you manage to stand up and walk with a tank like the 1006 on your back? Love those guns.

They do it in the movies all the time.

I carry some where between 3 and 4.

An inside the belt holster in the middle of the back is the most uncomfortable and awkward way imaginable. I guarantee you that whoever carries this way does not sit down and lean back. Impossible to drive a car or sit in a restaurant, etc. Hollywood/television only/ Not the real world.

looks like a great way to carry a sub compact in the center small of the back carry, if the gun is flat and not too wide

Please don't carry with a nylon holster like that. They tend to fray quickly and become unsafe. They also have the problem that you have to remove the holster to put the gun into it.
