My wife has a Charter Arms .357 Mag Pug - and LOVES it! She tried a number of revolvers before settling on that one. She shoots .38 through it - I shot 1 cylinder of .357 and decided I didn't need to do that again.

She bought a .22 Pathfinder to go with it.

It's hilarious.

Same reason dudes go nuts over FDE or ODG guns... Hell, even black is tacticool! Stainless is classic. Blued is beauty. It all goes together

A used Charter Undercover was my first revolver. I carried it from time to time until I could afford a S&W 642. I keep it in my wife's bedside electronic safe these days because she's confident with it and it's easy to operate. She doesn't have to worry about checking to see if it's loaded or racking the slide. It's not the best shooter in the world, but it's 5 sure rounds at Minute of Bad Guy inside our house at hallway distances.

My first pistol was/is a Charter Arms off duty purchases in 1986. Many, many thousands of rounds without one single failure.

My understanding is the company went through some ownership changes and put out some crap for a while. Supposed to be very decent now.

Agreed, especially the lightweight ones. They can bite on both ends.
Stick with cowboy loads or the 130 gr Airman loads (+/-800 fps).

First, thank you to everyone who has responded. I posted and then wasn't able to get back on here for a bit (seems to happen every time I post).

She's never fired a snubby, although she did shoot a revolver many years ago (way before we met). Although my OP said it would basically be a safe queen, I figured if we actually got it, it could be a last resort nightstand gun for her. I say last resort because we are already well-prepped with other guns for things that go bump in the night. Last resort means I'm down and out. Of course, she wants it cause it's pretty, and I can't blame her. I've bought a couple guns that way. Thank God only one has turned out to be a not good shooter for me (the feel in my hands, not the actual gun itself).

I'll definitely read the articles noted and also pass them on to the wife, although she keeps saying she's happy with her Kimber Custom II (painted the slide and mag extensions pink for her) and doesn't "need" another gun. JMB is probably smiling down on her from heaven.
It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

Smith & Wesson snubby handguns are one of the better priced firearms on the market today both new and especially used ones. I see them listed in the marketplace here at good prices, especially when you compare them to some of the semi-auto pistols and off roster semi-auto pistols that are also listed here

Charter Arms has had some good years and some bad years of quality control through their changing of ownerships several times and I can't speak to their current line of pistols but if it was a gun for my loved one I would buy a Smith & Wesson, a company known to stand behind their product, either new or possibly a used one in great condition or maybe even a Ruger snub nose revolver if I could find one at a lower price point then the Smith & Wesson all metal version.

You can always get a pink polymer grip. And pink isn't always a color that every woman wants to have as their defense gun or in this case safe Queen firearm color.
