    Charter Arms "Pink Lady"

Went to the LGS over the weekend and the wife saw this gun. Her favorite color, small, and fits her hand perfectly. Anyone have any experience with this company in general and this gun in particular? This won't be an HD or carry gun, just a shooter that sits in hte safe when not being shot.

It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

    Charters get mixed reviews here.

Is your wife comfortable shooting snubbies?

    If yes, belated Valentines present!

I have the UnderCover. Bought it in the 70's when that Zebra guy was running loose. Never, ever any kind of failure. Last summer shot a rattle snake on the property with the CCI #4 shot.

Buy it, you can't go wrong for a up-close, shoot and scoot weapon.
If I can kill snakes at 5 yards, up close bad guys won't stand a chance.

I’ve had an undercover lite for about 10 years, trigger isn’t great and carrying has worn off some of the finish but it’s been a reliable gun.

I have my Grandpas undercover from way back. It is a reliable gun. It goes bang when you pull the trigger. I recently had my wife handle it, a shield, a walther and a glock. She prefers the shield because of size and it holds more rounds than the charter...

They're okay, as in good enough and IMO better than a Taurus or something like that. Like Bassbones13 said "not a S&W but not junk." Sums it up perfectly.

If it's for range and safe duty however, I'd look to get her something else. I think we can all agree that a .38 has it's limitations, but a snub in that caliber is still no picnic to shoot. I get the color and all that... but unless she shoots a lot and get good with it she'll be a poor shot with some pretty stout recoil so it's probably not going to get shot much.
Buy made in USA whenever possible.

Little J-frame revolvers come in at the very bottom of the NRA ladies Pistol Project every time 1, 2 and Ladies Pistol Project 3. Google "NRA ladies Pistol Projec II" (I think it's the best one) 50 ladies and 24 guns. Review of triggers, sights, grips, recoil, accuracy, etc. Breaks it down by hand size even and the top choices of each one.
Our club just ran a ladies only class last week, 12 ladies, none of the ladies were interested in buying a revolver after shooting 12 -14 different Semi's , they shot 2 or 3 different revolvers. Many were first time shooters. We had some of the guns that make the top 5 in each division of the ladies Pistol project, but most are not on the CA roster but available at a higher cost through PPT.

Definitely make sure she enjoys shooting a snubnose .38. They are no 44magnum but have a bit more pop than a larger pistol and some people dont enjoy shooting them.

Put pink Hogue rubber wraparound grips on a Sig P238 = same color scheme, a bit more $, but worth it, IMO. I finally got past the small size, got one for the wife (purple grips added), she loves it, ended up getting another for myself. Wish I'd read all the reviews and those articles Blade1055 mentioned, would have saved me a lot of time!

Rather than a safe queen, she will have a fun gun to shoot that can be used.

I know it's a woman thing, but it still makes me laugh that a pink colored gun suddenly makes it more appealing to the wife unit. She's probably already imagining how it'll accent her shoes or something. A couple years ago my sister spotted a Tiffany blue Walther 380, and of course that was the one she wanted, not because she knew anything about it, but because it was a Tiffany blue gem in a sea of black. It's hilarious.

Has she ever fired a snubnosed 38?
