    Remington shuts down TAPCO too...

RSR Group notifying dealers of the following:

Remington Outdoor Company informed RSR at the SHOT Show that they will be focusing on their core hunting and shooting brands AAC, Barnes, Marlin and Remington. Bushmaster, DPMS, StormLake Barrels and Tapco will no longer be produced, with the exception of the Bushmaster BA50.

The American Parts Company, commonly known as TAPCO was a long-time major parts supplier and accessories manufacturer. Originally starting as a family run mail order company over 25 years ago outside of Atlanta in Kennesaw, Georgia.

TAPCO was big in the FAL, CETME/G3, AK, and SKS parts markets. They made American made 18 USC 922(r) compliant parts. TAPCO was the place to get US made parts to make foreign guns legal for importation and more importantly. They made replacement parts for folks who wanted to build their own.

For the younger folks here that only think of their plastic stocks and mags. TAPCO was a big player in the AK market. They made a lot of parts, jigs, and even reciever flats. Their G2 Trigger was damn good for a home built kit gun. And again, they had receiver flats and jigs so you can make your own gun.

Seeing them get stripped of everything worth a damn and shuttered sucks.

F***ing Cerberus really destroyed a number of companies.

That really sucks. Some TAPCO stuff was too cheap even for me, but on balance I liked their stuff.

Its one thing to own gun models that are no longer produced, but to own guns from a brand that has stopped production. My Bushmasters and DPMS will join my H&R guns as relics of by gone era.

Dang. Better grab up a handful of G2’s before they’re gone.

Never mind, looks like they’re long gone.

That's sad news. I remember buying a couple of FAL G1 parts kits from Tapco back when they were plentiful and cheap. And Storm Lake made pretty good replacement 1911 barrels at a fair price.

The way you have that structured it's a lot more than just Tapco. Gosh, with that list it's best to have what your going to want because your not going to get any new of that stuff. Barns and Marlin going away. Maybe they will be sold to someone that wants to run them.

I wonder if this is a downstream effect of some of the lawsuits targeted at Bushmaster et al by anti-gun shills. Cerberus has been dropping all of their "tactical" brands over the past couple days to include Tapco, Bushmaster, DPMS, etc.

Reread that paragraph again. The 1st sentence are the companies that survived the cut, the 2nd sentence are the companies that are being shut down.

I guess for the 308AR platform, the DPMS gen2 format will now be an orphan.

wow. You figure they would sell them off not dissolve them completely. But oh well.

The Tapco, DPMS, and Bushmaster websites are already gone... I guess no clearance on part.
