    West End Gun Club

Would like to join something like this, especially for 24/7 range access, but no idea how to even get started with sponsors and all that, anyone a member/can speak to the process? Appreciate any and all!

First thing first, get signed up there's like a two-year wait. In that time you'll be able to find sponsors just by going to a meeting or two

I am an FFL in Rancho Cucamonga! https://www.2azone.com
We have 2011 single shot pistols available!

We have Atlas gun works single shot 2011 available! If it is on their website we can get it for you.

I attend the IDPA event once a month. There are members who also attend that will sign for you as long as you are being safe and not being a pain the ***.

My signature came at the second event cause at the first event, I focus on trying to learn as much as I could about IDPA.

Old fog, new tricks and all that.

Also get a limited membership, lots of full members shoot at the main range from time to time, and all the folks at West End are great people.

What is the check-in procedure for the IDPA matches? Is there a stage walk through, start time? How much? Thanks in advance.

The WEGC web site does a great job of explaining the entire membership process.

The waitlist / applications are online: https://www.wegc.org/wordpress/?page_id=40

If you have any interest what so ever in any of the WEGC matches, attend one of the disciplines as already mentioned. That way you can meet members and get sponsor signatures.

There are waiting lists for both Full and Limited Memberships now from what I can tell. You should apply for a Limited Membership online even if you want a Full membership because Limited does not require sponsors and you should be able to get first crack at a Full Membership if slots open up.

Perfect, thanks for this, sounds like starting off with a limited and working my way to full is the way to go

Another post gave you the link to begin the process and get on the wait list.

You will need to be an NRA member when you join. Last time I heard, the wait time for a regular membership was up to 6 years now. People are recognizing the value of the membership at $240/year and not dropping out. The club used to loose +/- 150 members a year to deaths, relocations and general malaise. This last year that number was less than 100. The wait list may be artificially due to almost every limited member putting themselves on the waitlist for regular membership.

I personally think that maybe it's time to increase the dues to shake out people who are members but don't really use the facility. The cheaper it is the easier it is to justify keeping it even though you don't really use it.

The value even with initiation fee is insane, so totally can see why the membership is full. Would be neat if they had a use requirement for members.

6 years is an insane amount of time though... I might be out of state by then!

I have my "elevation" ceremony next week after being on the wait list for over 2 years!

By far and away my favorite place to shoot these days.

It absolutely is ONE OF A KIND! It's a privately owned canyon with rifle, shotgun and pistol bays, a .22 rimfire range and 600 yd rifle range. All about an hour drive from most of LA/OC.

Now the 24/7 thing is a BIT misleading as there is no lighting there for shooting after dark so.... unless you have night vision equipment or bring all your own lighting, you really can't shoot at night. And... being out in Lytle canyon, it is oppressively hot in the summer (July-Sept) and can be quite cold in the winter as well. But... as far as ranges go in So. Cal. it is pretty much unmatched (if you are a full member)
