    a bit off topic....

had a conversation with somebody at my CCW renewal course a while back. person told me he acquired some standard magazines from a friend (i'm pretty sure illegally) and carries them in his CCW.

what happens if SHTF and you shoot somebody with a standard (illegal) capacity magazine?

      Probably a bad idea.

Is it currently legal to possess and use freedom mags that were legally acquired during freedom week? If so, I can possess them all I want and if I get questioned I ain't have to inform the officer that my mags were legally acquired. At that point they'd have to prove they weren't. Possessing them isn't a crime if I got them legally right?
Not arguing. You asked a question. I answered.
Right now it is illegal to possess LCM's. Enforcement of the law is on hold because of the injunction.

During freedom week LCM's were legal to acquire and possess. That week ended and the law went back into effect.

The injunction only negates enforcement of the law (32310PC).

When the case is settled and if it goes against us, the hold on enforcement will be lifted and someone in possession of any LCM could be arrested.
No matter when they were acquired.

That's crazy. So it is illegal but the law isn't being enforced? Hey, now I know what it feels like to be an illegal alien!!

Thanks for the explanation. Well, since the law isn't being enforced at this moment, can we get convicted for using LCMs or could it just be a big expensive hassle?

How does one get convicted on a law that isn't enforced?

Now if the injunction eventually is overturned and enforcement is back on, then yeah; but in this current situation, there's a lot of paranoia.

With enforcement on hold, you should not be cited or arrested for possession.

But, I heard of one instance where a person in Ventura County was cited and had his LCM's that were purchased during "freedom week" taken as evidence.

Once the Sheriff found out, the mags were returned and the citation was voided.

It is possible that with uninformed LEO's this could happen.

Then there is the nuisance section (32390PC). That allows for a LEO to take the LCM without any laws being broken by you. It is unlikely that this could happen while the case is still in the courts. But it is possible.

Whenever I feel paranoid I just think of the image of St Benitez and a sense of peace washes over me. Thank you St. Benitez for giving us freedom week.
