I had to show a passport at the store in San Gabriel CA.

They say federal gov requires proof of citizenship or a green card. CA DL doesnt prove anything. It sucked, but I understand.

Anyhow, there also is no DOJ memo that says REAL ID is required for the buyer. What it says is that FFLs should request more docs from people with FLA IDs.

Anyhow everyone please take a note: REAL ID IS NOT REQUIRED. AN OLD SCHOOL NON-FLA DL STILL WORKS JUST FINE.

most places take a "certified copy of your birth certificate" not the one from the hospital, the one you have to pay for at the county records office.

My name on my CCW is out of order, the last gun store didn't want to do it. I had to get my old Firearm Safety Card and use that with a utility bill.
Also DROS is now $37 something. instead of 25.

What is up with that DROS? I did a PPT yesterday and got punked for almost 40 plus clams. Is it ever enough for these people?

You don't need a Real ID but a lot of shops still require it out of ignorance or an abundance of caution. I'd call the shop you want to do the PPT at and tell them what you have and ask if it is adequate.

Call the FFL and ask. There are a few that are prematurely requiring a Real ID.
