I've wondered if it's a good idea to store anything with optics in one. Could the silicone react with lens coatings?

I have a single borestore, and several socks. I'd definitely like to get borestores for all the items in the safe. There are more options for glass on the long guns, a offer a bit more bang and bump protection.

I have read in several articles over the years that silicone socks are not good for wood stocks. Can anyone confirm?

Another vote for Bore Stores

I have used both for years and they both work well, really cuts down on gun on gun damage - in the safe, etc. Never noticed rust on anything stored in either one.

Bore stores do seem to take up more room and are harder to fit in the muzzle holes of large safes. YMMV

I used several brands but Bore Stores are my favorite. Yes they are thicker than the others I've used but that's a good thing IMO.
