What should be aligned is the top of the front sight and the top of the rear sight, NOT the DOTS!

For people who like shooting blades, don’t get dot sights! But stop telling combat shooters how your bullseye guns are setup, we don’t care!
If you have proper dot sights, lining up the dots will usually line up the blades. And if it doesn’t that still doesn’t matter if the round is hitting where you want it with the dots aligned. If the bullet is hitting POA when the dots are aligned, who cares what the tops of the sights are doing?
When SHTF, it is quicker to pick out and line up dots than blades. That is why combat/service guns usually have dot sights. And at night, you will only ever see the dots of nightsights, not the tops of blades. So you had better make sure the round is hitting where you want when the dots are aligned.Last edited by SkyHawk; 12-23-2019, 10:24 PM.Comment

Thanks, I still have not had a chance to take it out, I've been really busy, but I am going to try some rested shooting with it to make sure I'm not pulling it down.Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty.

my 229 is a great pistol and I shoot it very well. Problem is; the sight picture for every one of my pistols is different. Every range trip I keep notes on picture works with a particular gun. I have not decided yet decided which sight picture I like best. As mention; sandbags and a small screw driver for sight adjustment is really handy.Comment
