Redhawks - the cylinder would seize up solid when I pulled the trigger. It wouldn't move. Both guns were brand new. Both did it. It wasn't dirt under the extractor or anything like that. It was mechanical.
Hundreds of rounds later since repair - they both work fine.
My 6 GP100s have been flawless.Comment

i have old Rugers and they have never caused me a problem but then I do single action mostly in black hawk both BP and cartridge. i have only had one problem in 1983 when i bought a Mark One and it had cosmetic defects including one ruger could not explain. they offered to take the gun back unfired and give me any revolver. pistol, or rifle in the inventory. I kept the pistol to this day with the cosmetic blemishes including the one they could not explain and that thing is scary accurate and fun to shoot. My old pistols are as dependable as the sun coming up the next day and i would hate to see Ruger lose their quality.Comment

I purchased a new mini 14 trying to have a featureless rifle that would have a detachable magazine . I returned it 3 times over the course of 6 months. First failure to extract then failures to feed.. I ended up for an entire week sending them emails and phone calls. They ignored quite a bit of them until they refunded my money. I had to pester the hell out of them. It was my first Ruger purchase and maybe my lastComment

I have owned three Rugers: A Mark I Bull Barrel Target, a .357 Blackhawk, and a Single Six Convertible. I sold the Mark I and Blackhawk years ago; still have the Single Six bought last year. Each one worked flawlessly from day one.

What caliber were they? Just curious if it's a SP101 issue or a SP101 9mm issue. If it is like the TWO SP101s I had with the same exact problem:
1. It won't be fixed.
2. The problem will show up later.
Ruger SP101s are manufactured by the retarded chimps. Their repair department is run by idiots.
Good luck. You will need it.
P.S. I am not a Ruger hater. I own 6 awesome GP100s. I just hate the SP101 department at Ruger. They have been making them forever. They should be good at it by now. But, no.

Invoice says that the pawl was replaced and chambers reamed. I'm wondering if it was test fired at all because there was no residue or staining on the end of the cylinder.
The gun will not run with any ammo and is worse than it was. Before there it would always try to cock but not fully go the last little bit and catch the sear. Now it locks up and I can't pull the hammer back at all without jiggling the cylinder until it releases. Also just feels rough as hell now.
Bought as a carry gun but that's never gonna happen because I will NEVER trust it.

I owned 2 GP100's years ago. They were fine except the grittiness on the trigger bugged me. So I decided to hone the internals to smooth things out. Upon taking things apart I sent a pawl and a spring across the garage floor. Never to be found. I contacted Ruger and they sent me 2 sets of the now missing parts. Kudos for them.DaveComment

Ruger has stepped up and is replacing it with a rifle. FYI, The "tell the CEO" does in fact exist and apparently got some attention because I got a personal call, shipping label the same day and the rifle is being delivered to my FFL on Wednesday.

that's the same thing i did with my 3 GP100's - changed out the trigger return spring and the hammer strut spring for something a little lighter while doing some polishing up of some of the sear contact areasI owned 2 GP100's years ago. i do it with all my revolvers now, if it moves or comes into contact with a moving part it gets polished - that little extra mile of maintenance does wonders for the revolver
sorry to hear your pawl and spring got away from ya - i had the double action sear spring on my model 19 S&W fly away from me too and that damn thing is so little i knew i'd never find it - Smith and Wesson sent me another one and i almost lost that one too, thankfully my wife spotted it, her eyes are still young, or i wouldn't have found that one eitherOriginally posted by BarangI! hate! you!
