    New member, first post

    Hi everyone.

First I'd just like to say that I'm excited that i came across this group. Looks to be an amazing source of knowledge and help. Looking forward to fun times ahead.

So I'm about to start my first AR build and am starting with a Spikes lower (hopefully a decent choice). From there I'll be researching on here and YouTube so any quick advice is always appreciated. Also, i live in California and am pretty sure I'm going to go with a patriot pin setup.

Any recommended sites to order parts from?

    Thanks everyone!

Welcome! That Spikes' lower should serve you well.

With parts I'll order from the manufacturer directly (BCM, Geiselle, Ballistic Advantage,Midwest Industries, Arisaka Defense, etc.) or I'll go to someone like Primary Arms, Brownells, Rifle Gear, etc.

        Welcome to the forum!

If you are just starting your research, don't overlook featureless options as well for your build. You can start with Resurgant Arms grip, etc.

Today is a great day to buy parts if you know which direction you wish to go!

        Best wishes OP...

Welcome! Go to the "Deals, Sales and Coupons" forum in marketplace. There's good info there for AR15 parts, etc. And yes, Spikes is a decent choice.

Buy once cry once. Think about what you want the end result to be. If it’s a fun shooting AR then milspec parts will be fine. If you want a highly accurate AR start with quality pieces. Although AR’s can be tinker toyed together you can waste a lot of money upgrading parts. I suggest building a fun shooter. Shoot it and see where you want to go from there. Palmetto State Armory runs some great deals but isn’t high end.

Welcome. Good first choice recommend like other buying quality parts. BCM, Geislle, Larue and many others. Enjoy the build, look for some quality glass then go shoot. Have fun.

                        Welcome!
Palmetto State Armory and featureless are my suggestions!
Enjoy the process and don’t take anything the internets say personally

                              Welome OP.
I've read good things about Spikes. If you local, I can loan you a few tools if you need them. I've assembled 1 or 12 ARs in the past few year. Having the right tools makes things go smoothly.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.
