God it just hit me: We're not doing anything remotely illegal, yet because it's somewhat related to something that is politically heated/offensive to a select group, we are required to be sneaky with our damn mail out of fear of offending said select groups. The state of things is kind of sad.

Anyways, feel free to discuss if you guys want but since the generic pattern of responses is the same sneaky pete one and didn't address my question re: experiences at other contract carrier locations, I'll excuse myself from this thread.

Final parting note/edit: I don't know how much experience you all have with having insurance claims denied outright by FedEx or UPS with all those vague descriptions. I've had hundreds of dollars of insured stuff denied by FedEx and UPS before.

This store always asks what the contents are and then prints that out on a form. Don't know if this is a UPS policy or a store policy, but every package I have insured there for the past 7 or 8 years has been dealt with as such: they ask you what's in there, you tell them, they print a form that says whats in there with the declared value and you sign the form.

While I did package it, I did not have a pre-made shipping label. I usually go down there and just buy a label from them directly. Didn't think it would be a problem.

Hey Calgunners,

Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with getting local UPS stores to accept firearm parts. I know that shipping a functional firearm is restricted to "specified customer support/distribution centers" and has to go via one day mail.

I was trying to send a bare slide with sight out to Trijicon for repair (the tritium insert apparently fell out somewhere, which means it's now just a hunk of metal), which unlike functional firearms, is just a part and isn't restricted by UPS corporate policy. However, when I walked in, the UPS employee told me that "firearm parts arent allowed" then handed me the corporate policy...which essentially backed up what I was saying Re: it's not prohibited at all since it's just a part. When I pointed that out, he just regurgitated over and over that it doesn't matter what UPS policy is, we don't ship gun parts here. When I told him that the policy he is handing out to people doesn't reflect what he is saying and they should have literature that properly reflects such a policy on hand, he proceeded to simply ignore me, at which point I left.

Anyone else having problems shipping parts at local UPS, FedEx, whatever stores? I sincerely wonder if this was a store policy or just another SJW getting offended at the contents. I spoke to UPS corporate and from my conversation it sure doesn't seem like I was doing anything restricted, they even said they'd contact the store manager to see what's up. I don't even know if I have to declare what is in the package normally (since it's just a part), but I was asked and answered for package insurance valuation reasons.

I always print my own labels and get a receipt for drop off. Anytime I am asked my answer is always machine parts. Never had an issue once I started doing it that way.

I would think that being specific about it being a valuable firearm part could increase the possibility of internal theft by a worker. That is reason enough to be vague about contents.
